MIXED GREENSOMES
The third and final Mixed Greensomes competition for 2026 took place at Co Armagh Golf Club
on Friday 7 August and was won by the husband and wife duo of Elizabeth and John
Mawhinney with 46 points.
In second, also with 45 points, was Colette and Maitiu McSorley.
The gross prize was won by Paul Doyle and Paula McCrory with 33 gross points.
There were twos for Catherine and John Vernon at the 3 rd , PJ Quinn and Denise Murphy at the
11 th , Paul Doyle and Paula McCrory and Andy and Gail Steed at the 13 th and Rob and Michelle
Kinane and Colette and Maitiu McSorley at the 18 th .

Forty-five ladies competed in the August Medal at Co Armagh Golf Club on Thursday 27 August, with a further 23 ladies playing in the 9 hole competition.

The competition was generously sponsored by Glen Maintenance Services.

The winner, with a fabulous nett 64, was Eileen Fitzsimons and second was Hilary Johnston with nett 67.
The gross prize was won by Lily McMullan with gross 80. Bernie McBride was third with nett 67.

The category winners were:
Cat A Philippa McShane nett 68
Cat B Anne O’Reilly nett 68
Cat C Cait McKinney nett 70

Elizabeth Mawhinney won the front 9 with nett 30 and Anna Carson won the back 9 with nett 33.

9 hole competition
The 9 hole competition was won by Grainne Perry with 21 pts, beating Averil Bassett on the countback.

Birdies and Twos
There were birdies at the 2nd for Anne O’Reilly, the 4th for Gail Steed, the 8th for Maggie Donnelly and the 12th for Anna Carson. Twos were recorded by Karen Edgar at the 3rd , Emma Garrigan at the 7th and Anne McDonald at the 18th .

The first of the two ladies’ opens held at Co Armagh Golf Club was a 3-Ball Scramble, held on Monday 3 August.

On Saturday 5th September the annual Armaghdale Open stroke competition was held. The fixture returned to Saturday this year and was fortunately played in dry weather.

Lady Captain Julie McCarten welcomed everyone to the Armaghdale Competition prize giving. She expressed her sincere thanks to Past Lady Captain Frances and her husband, Gerry of Gerard Davidson Business Account Services for their continued and very generous sponsorship of the competition. Flo McCall distributed the prizes on behalf of Past Lady Captain Frances and Gerry Davidson who were unfortunately unable to attend.

Paula McCrory Handicap Secretary announced the prize winners and the winner of the Armaghdale Cup 2026 was Michelle Kinane with a nett 68

Congratulations to County Armagh Golf Club Ladies Cowdy Quaich Team, who secured a great semi-final win over Lurgan Golf Club - on Monday 31st August.

Ladies Golf Coaching Programme for the winter presented by Dominic Po***ck:

The Programme starts on Thursday 10th September and includes two six week coaching blocks along with two individual 30 minute lessons during the break.

There are two groups available, 6pm to 7pm and 7pm to 8pm, with a maximum of 12 ladies per group.

Spaces are limited and anyone interested should contact Dominic directly at [email protected] to book their place.
