Kilchattan Bay Kayaking Hire of kayaks and paddleboards in Kilchattan Bay on the Isle of Bute. Rothesay is 90 minutes from Glasgow by public transport.

A bus service from Rothesay to Kilchattan runs every hour till 6.00pm. Safe launching from the Old Quay in the centre of the village. Beautiful bay with varied birdlife
Picnic tables are available on the Quay. A Public Toilet with wheelchair access is located next to the Quay. A Safety Boat and qualified driver are on stand by if any paddlers require assistance.

We will be reopening on the 20th June this year. We will open every day that weather conditions are suitable. This page will be updated daily . New for this year is the Kalao, a very rare kayak that can seat 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.

We also have a fleet of new rigid SUPs from Tahe, faster and more stable than inflatable SUPs.

When weather conditions are ideal we will be renting paddleboards at Ettrick Bay 3 hours either side of High Water. Check this page for updates.

We look forward to welcoming guests, old and new, to the beautiful island of Bute.

Due to medical issues I will be unable to open the centre this summer.

My apologies for letting our regular customers down. We look forward to welcoming paddlers in 2026, when we will have additional paddleboard equipment to cater for a wide range of customers.

Even in choppy water our new Mistral 12 foot hard SUP feels stable and manoeuvres easily.
