Such a shame it has to be done this way to get the truth out there and hopefully force changes so that no other family ever suffers unduly again. Thank you Peter & the SGI team.
At 0200 this morning, the Daily Mail published an exclusive article on SGI’s search for .
Alongside this, Part Three of my podcast with Geographic Profiler- Douglas MacGregor is now live on YouTube, showing for the first time previously unseen live sonar footage from my search of the River Wyre.
Nicola’s family were informed in advance and raised no objection — their wellbeing remains my first concern.
The footage shows what I identified within six minutes of starting my search, just 75 metres downstream from the bench where Nicola’s phone and harness were found. My requests to deploy SGI divers were refused. Later that day, I re-scanned the area by moving the boat closer to the bank to obtain clearer images. The following morning, I asked again for permission to re-scan the area and to deploy SGI divers. That request was declined, and SGI were asked to leave.
In the months that followed, I offered my live sonar dataset for review, but it was never properly examined. Instead, the College of Policing review overlooked this vital evidence. The unnamed sonar experts quoted in that review never saw the live sonar data being released today and gave opinions based only on a single PDF still image. Independent experts who have since reviewed the full dataset have confirmed my findings.
Those responsible — including the College of Policing, Lancashire Constabulary, and the unnamed sonar experts — must now be held to account for allowing the flawed and misleading report which was presented to the public.
I also want to make it clear that neither I nor SGI received any money from the Daily Mail article or from the podcast. This is, and always has been, about the truth.
The people of the United Kingdom have had enough of scandal after scandal. Families deserve answers, not silence.
I respectfully call on Prime Minister UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and the Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood to ensure that those responsible for commissioning and preparing the review are brought before the Home Affairs Select Committee. Only by doing so can we restore public confidence and improve future search standards.

Above all, this is about Nicola — a much-loved daughter, partner, and mother. My thoughts remain with her family and friends. By sharing this evidence, I hope no other family will ever have to face the same uncertainty again.
It is the mark of true leadership to admit mistakes, learn from them, and make changes to rebuild trust.
