Howler of a day for both teams.

Bremner Cup:
Broughty 4-1 FPs

Match Report:
Shocker of a day from the FPs today. After a fast start from Broughty, FPs found themselves 1-0 down from a corner allowing an easy finish. Poor goal to concede and Broughty continued attacking throughout the half with the FPs goalkeeper Hardie keeping them in it with some unbelievable saves. After a few scares, FPs then started to play football and squandered a few chances to get back even but went in at half time 1-0.

The second half started and within 10 minutes Broughty found themselves 2-0 up after a quick counter-attack, and then 3-0 up after a mix-up from a FPs corner. Broughty continued bombarding with Hardie playing a blinder. They made it 4-0 soon after and it probably could of been double figures if not for Hardie. Willox then got a late consolation goal with a brilliant finish after some good link-up play with substitute Muir.

Although manager Lyons was unhappy with the first half performance, the second half was even worse. Not sure what caused such a bad second half performance but it was as if the teams water was spiked - to be fair, there was a dodgy looking man on the sidelines wearing a t-shirt, hat & gloves despite the freezing temperatures.

It was a poor performance and Broughty easily deserved the win.

We go again.

Second team:
FPs 0-7 Broughty

Absolutely skudded on home turf. Big boy Boothy stepped in as goalkeeper and this encouraged Broughty to perform with the goal machine in the sticks with a pair of Karius signed gloves.

TOUGH TIMES NEVER LAST, ONLY TOUGH PEOPLE LAST

First Team
Bremner Cup

FPs progress through to Semi-Finals after winning on penalties.

Newport 2-2 Arbroath FPs (4-2 on penalties to FPs)

Match Report:
With the pitch in not best condition, first half FPs played up hill and it was difficult with Newport probably having the better half although not many saves required for FPs keeper Robb. FPs had a few chances that they should have done better with but went into half time at 0-0.

Second half, FPs came out and went 1-0 up within 5 minutes with SMITH scoring after The Road Dawg Reid laid it off. The game was then equal for a while but then Newport somehow scored out of nowhere to make it 1-1.

FPs then made it 2-1 when The Road Dawg played a cracker of a ball through to Big Aidz PATON and he lobbed the keeper with an unreal finish.

The game turned scrappy and then Newport equalised from a long throw when FPs didn’t clear it and they scored a screamer of a finish.

The game finished 2-2 and it went to penalties. Robb saved the first two penalties with brilliant saves and NAIRN, SMITH, & BOLTON converted. It was 3-2 and MACGREGOR converted the winning penalty to put FPs through.

ROBB outstanding with the penalty saves.

Invergowrie 1-1 Arbroath FPs

Although FPs requested a free week with many boys missing, they were done dirty & told they have to play the game despite playing the most games in the league.

Stalemate up at memorial park today and FPs continue their unbeaten run.

Match report:
First half FPs played the better football and deservedly went 1-0 up via Danny “The Road Dawg” Reid. Invergowrie keeper made a few key saves from strikes by Steven Smith & The Road Dawg to keep it at 1-0. Invergowrie had a few half chances but not threatening too much.

Second half a different FPs team came out and allowed Invergowrie to get into the game. They deservedly made it 1-1 with about 20 mins to go. The game then went scrappy and Invergowrie should have won the game with a few chances - Swan cleared off the line and they made a hash of it. FPs pushed with to go 10 and had a few chances but couldn’t convert.

Draw was a fair result.

A great weekend past for the FPs as 2 wins were recorded on Saturday afternoon.

The 1st team started life at the new PKS Arena with a 3-1 win against Finavon. The goals were scored by Reid, Sime and Napier to the delight of player manager Lyons.

The 2nd team won 1-0 away to Brechin, with the only goal of the game coming from Hutton to maintain the stand-in management duo of Hardie and Cromar's 100% record (2 out of 2).

After what has been an incredibly frustrating week for ourselves , we have decided to re-open tomorrow!!

It was brought to our attention last week out of the blue , that a simple error had been made on our license way back in 2013 , and that it would need to be amended right away

Unfortunately , it’s not as straightforward as it should be to process and as such we are having to wait until all is good with this before we can resume selling alcohol

In the meantime , however , we have decided to put faith into our loyal customers who we imagine are chomping at the bit to play some pool and chuck some darts .. And are going to remain open , despite the uncertainty on how business will be for ourselves , operating at a fraction of our usual strength

We ask please that everyone can respect our situation , and be patient with staff until such time as we are back to normal

Team Shotz 🎱
