LINDEN CUP R1 | FULL TIME
Armagh 4–3 Antrim HC Men’s 1XI
A battling performance from our Men’s 1XI in their Linden Cup opener, but it finished in a narrow 4–3 defeat away to Armagh.
Armagh took an early lead and were 1–0 up at the end of the first quarter. Antrim responded well, with Andrew Chambers finding the net, but Armagh edged back in front to lead 2–1 at half-time.
The game remained tightly contested, with Antrim creating chances and pushing hard throughout. Armagh extended their lead in the final quarter, but the lads showed great character to keep fighting back. Further goals from Peter Kane and Jack McCrickard kept Antrim right in the contest, but Armagh just held on to take the win in an entertaining cup tie.
There was also a real positive in seeing four returning players — Robbie Watt, Scott Mitchell, Max McCooke and Alex McBride — pull on the blue shirt again. Brilliant to have all four back involved with the Men’s 1XI.
Plenty of positives to take from the performance, with determination shown right to the final whistle.
