Match Report
Waid came out on top in a tough match played in nasty weather at Anstruther on Saturday.
DUMS scored within 4 minutes of kick off, but Waid got to grips with the weather conditions too and Ben Langlands finished off some good handling and passing to score out wide. DUMS scored again but Waid levelled through Euan Moncrieff before half time. With the heavy wind, nobody managed to convert.
Half time 10 all
When the second half started, Waid were first to score, with Mark Guthrie touching down after picking from the tail of the scrum. DUMS restored parity shortly after, but the Waid forwards were making their ball possessoin count in the harsh weather and captain Andrew Marley scored next at the end of several drives to the DUMS line. That was followed by a penalty restart for the DUMS mouthing at a referee who was taking no back chat. DUMS again levelled to make it 20 - 20 with time running out, but a kick over the DUMS defence for the backs to chase into the corner, was not dealt with by the defence and Chris Henriksen touched down to seal the win for Waid, but not before DUMS again sought to head up to the Waid line only for a kick to be carried out in touch in goal to end the match.
Final score: Waid 25 - DUMS 20.
5 point match against a team that makes use of fitness and speed, neither of which assisted with the conditions at the weekend.
Fine day for the player sponsors too, with tries from 4 sponsored players.
Next weekend sees the final league match for this season - at home to the league leaders, Bannockburn. Kick off at Waid park is 2 pm.
