The team were in Duns at the weekend for a blisteringly hot Jim Clark Reivers Rally! Running a fantastic line up of six cars and crews, it was a very busy but successful weekend!
Car 16 of Johnnie Mackay & Michael Cruickshank in the Mitsubishi Evo 8 were the top seeded non-Rally2 / R5, however they struggled with their pace in the dry and hot conditions; in particular the faster sections of stage. Despite this they had a clean run finishing a credible 19th overall and 2nd in class!
Car 82 of Allan Young & Charles Mackenzie in the Citroen Racing C2 R2 Max were paired for the first time in what would be Allan’s first closed road event and only his second on tarmac. A clutch issue plagued the crew all day despite the team’s efforts in service to rectify, however the mileage and seat time was invaluable to Allan and they finished 54th overall and 2nd in class!
Car 89 of Fletcher Falconer & Ian Murray were out for the first time this year in the upgraded M-Sport Fiesta ST and hit the ground running; quickly climbed positions sitting inside the top fifty by the end of SS3. However an oil leak found its way to the clutch and they lost almost all drive ending their event. The performance to that point was very encouraging, but the issue left the crew absolutely gutted as to what might have been.
Car 102 of Thomas Milne & Thomas Purvin was also the first time out this year in the upgraded Micra and also Thomas’ first time driving on a closed road event! The objective set for the day was a measured drive and the crew purposely didn’t look at times all day to focus on the finish so it was to their surprise that they ended the day 64th overall and 2nd in class! A fantastic result considering their steady pace with a lot more to come from the crew and car.
Car 117 of Ruan Lowry & Ian McRae in the C2 VTR – another first time on a closed road event for Ruan and a similar objective of gaining experience and mileage. The crew kept their lines clean and tidy all day and finished a credible 63rd overall and 7th in class!
Car 119 of Adrian Stewart & Tom Hynd in the historic Morris Mini Cooper S are no strangers to the Jim Clark Rally, however loose gravel caught them out and they slid off the stage in SS3 hitting a tree and sadly ending their event.
