Teeing off on the 1st at Gleneagles - 30 August Flag Final

Our Powfoot Junior squad did the club proud at the Scottish Golf Flag Final on Sunday 30th August at Gleneagles. Coming 4th= in a field of 14 on a course they’d never played before and in wet, tricky conditions was a great achievement for these youngsters. They met some international players who had started their career playing in the same event so who knows how far our juniors could go. Thanks to the volunteers and parents who travelled with the group and also to Annandale and Eskdale Active Schools for funding the bus and to our driver, Sandra, who did a great job on a very long day. WInners were Crieff on 345 points, 2nd SALJGA 330, 3rd Strathlene 320, 4th= Powfoot/Annanhill 300.

Winners of the S W Scotland Section D, pictured with Ann Robison, Team Manager, are Callan, Bryony, Braydon, Thomas, Cody, Blake, Lewis and Blair. Missing from pic Connor and Logan. Playing against Lochmaben and Moffat in a 2 man Texas scramble format at each club the Powfoot 6s squad topped the league. What a fantastic team - well done to everyone.

Powfoot Juniors Gleneagles bound!! Cody, Blake, Braydon, Thomas and Blair (reserve) competing in the Scottish Club 36 shot final. What an achievement to be one of only 14 clubs to reach the national final after winning the regional at Crichton GC against teams from thornhill, County, Lochmaben and Crichton. This week saw the last of the very successful Summer in Sports coaching dates run in conjunction with Annandale and Eskdale Active Sports. 7 sessions from the driving range to putting green, via the chipping area with the help of all the lady volunteers and John Burns, the pro coach. Thanks to AEAS for funding the fruit and drinks each week. All the youngsters received a medal for their efforts and we hope to see many of them in the junior section of the golf club in the near future.
