Our running club members worked hard on the school playing fields this afternoon. There were some new faces which was great to see and as well as the usual fun and games , afterwards they were treated to a rare double rainbow! 🌈

Great work from everyone.

A Little Help for Our Home Economics Department

Due to the continued rise in food costs, our Home Economics Department is going to find it increasingly difficult to ensure our pupils are able to get the best cooking experience this year.

We would therefore be very grateful for any donations of dry goods such as flour, sugar, rice, pasta, lentils, canned tomatoes or passata, baking ingredients, or other non-perishable food items, tubs with lids or homegrown produce. Also, if you see a great deal somewhere please let us know so we can go and do a bulk purchase.

Every donation, no matter how small, would make a real difference and help us to continue to provide valuable practical learning experiences for our pupils. ❤️

Sporting Success ⚽️ ⚽️

Yesterday afternoon our under 16 boys football team started their season at home against Wallace Hall Academy.

The weather played a massive part in the game with the boys struggling to get a real hold of the game in the first half whilst playing into the wind and rain against a very physical and well drilled Wallace Hall team.

We managed to come in at half time 2-1 ahead after an excellent finish from John, who lobbed the keeper from inside the box and great play from William before cooly slotting the ball past the keeper.

After half time the boys really came into the game. With the wind now in our favour the boys kicked on. An excellent whipped corner in from Tom saw Reuben score our 3rd to put us 3-1 ahead. However, Wallace Hall came back again after they were awarded a penalty kick after some good counter attacking play.

Annan continued pressing hard and our 4th came from a great turn and finish in the box from Olly.

A great start to the season, with a final score of 4-2 to Annan. Our next fixture is away to Lockerbie Academy. 🟡 ⚫️

Our S6 pupils had the opportunity to hear from the University of Aberdeen about applying to university and what to expect from the application process.

The session covered some really helpful guidance on UCAS, including tips for writing a strong personal statement and making the most of the application process. 📝

The session was also valuable for those planning to go to college. Discussions around choosing a degree, researching your options and making decisions about your future gave all pupils useful things to think about, whatever their next step might be.

A big thank you to the University of Aberdeen for taking the time to speak to our S6 pupils and helping them feel more informed and confident about their next steps. 🌟

📚 The slides from the session have also been shared with pupils via Teams, so they can revisit the advice and guidance when completing their applications.

Yesterday, our S1 pupils took part in the STEM Education Roadshow, as part of our DYW programme.

From a Material Fashion Show 👗, to an Atom Ball Race ⚛️🏃 and even a Polymers Workout 💪, pupils were learning about STEM in a fun, interactive and memorable way — while discovering the huge range of exciting careers these subjects can lead to.
And it definitely made an impression…

👏 A huge thank you to the team from Altru for an entertaining, interactive and for helping our S1 pupils see that the subjects they are learning today could lead to some seriously exciting careers in the future!

School running club 🏃‍♂️

Our running club took their first trip down to the pipeline and back this afternoon.

They had a steady run down and, after a short break, pushed on the way back, in very windy conditions! 💨
