Donington post race report.
Affer missing two race weekends, 77 returned with new panels and a fresh coat of paint.
We came out of qualifying with two 13th places, but Chris felt that something wasn’t as it should be and that the truck wasn't running at its full potential.
Race 1
Despite the uncertainty and some more post qualifying checks, Chris brought Truck 77 home in a hard-fought 7th place, but still felt the truck wasnt handling right. We knew we still hadn’t found the problem so changed the rear axle after some more checks.
Race 2
We were still losing speed, and the truck just wasn’t behaving right. Chris brought Truck 77 home in 9th place after a long hot 11 laps. It was soon found in post race 2 checks that the replacement rear axle was lighting up the inside wheel and struggling to get any power down whatsoever!
So, once again, the team got their heads down, and the rear axle was changed again, ready for Race 3.
During our checks, we also discovered that a rear wheel bearing needed replacing, so this was swiftly resolved. Another job, another challenge, and another reminder of just how much work goes into keeping these trucks on track.
Then came the disappointing news… Race 3 was cancelled.
After everything the team had put into getting Truck 77 right, we never got the opportunity to see what we could have achieved with it finally sorted. But that's racing. Sometimes, you don't get the ending you worked for.
What matters is that we leave Donington with the truck checked, repaired and ready for the season finale at Brands Hatch in October!
