Penn Street Cricket Club

Penn Street Cricket Club A friendly but competitive cricket club with a vibrant social scene. Always looking for new players! Here's ten reasons...

1. All are welcome to nets

8.

We are always looking for new members, who will receive a warm welcome. But why should you join Penn Street Cricket Club and not one of the other good local cricket sides? We only play friendlies, not League cricket. That means we have a more relaxed atmosphere on the field than League clubs.

2. That's not to say we aren't competitive. In our last full season we won 16 and lost 11 games, many of these against local league opposition.

3. We welcome players of all ages and abilities. Anyone willing to be involved in the club will get a game.

4. We play Saturdays and Sundays from mid-April until the end of September. You are free to pick and choose how often - or how seldom - you want to play.

5. Our ground is one of the prettiest in South Bucks, opposite the Squirrel pub and Penn Woods.

6. We have a lively Junior section, the Squirrels, on Wednesday evenings

7. Every year we go on tour to Worcester, and in 2012 we went to South Africa, 2016 Sri Lanka and 2020 Barbados.

9. We have an active social calendar off the field, with annual trip to Lords, Dinner Dance, quizzes, horse-racing evenings etc

10. We have been described as "The little club with the big heart". We raised over £100,000 for Lords Taverners and local charities through Charity Cricket matches between 1983 and 2000. We raised £10,000 for RBL on our Charity Bike Ride (100 Not Out (of mind)) in 2014 and a further £10,000 for The Foundation of Goodness in Sri Lanka in 2016. Interested? - use our contacts page to get in touch, or ask behind the bar in The Squirrel...

We look forward to hearing from you

David reached his 200th wicket for PSCC rather spectacularly, being brought on again in the penultimate over of the game with us needing one wicket and the opposition needing three runs. A peach of a delivery, right through the gate and knocking back off stump, once again delivering right when it mattered. There's also the small matter of the ton he scored that day to set up that scenario.

Here's to the next hundred wickets!

3000 club runs for life member and former Chair, Rob Sutherland!

Now more likely to be seen captaining Scotland in various quiz competitions around the country and world, he still takes time out of his busy schedule to hit thumping cover drives to the boundary or take the occasional worldy of a catch.

First club 50 for this guy here! Stuck on a high score of 49* for more years than he'd care to count and taking a 5-fer before getting that 50, he finally got over the line in our home game against the Zambucca Tigers.

Many more of these in the future, please!

A great day for our Juniors at the Holmer Green tournie today. We entered 4 teams (2 x U8 and 2 x U9) and all produced some PS magical moments...with lots of fun, fist pumps and a few tears! Every team enjoyed at least one win, and the U9s took it to the last game to decide top spot, just falling short. Well done coaches, parents and PS club. 🐿️
