Every year, I keep a notebook tracking the mountain weather in the Lake District so i can make an educated guess to where will be best to climb during the winter. This year, I'm putting it online so everyone else can use it.

Today was the perfect weather for a half day climbing at Tilberthwaite Quarry.
The sun was out, the rock was dry, and we finished the day with two very happy climbers.

The clear days are rarer than not at the moment, but that just means we need to make the most of the ones that appear.
This beauty of a view is from Alcock Tarn above Grasmere.

It's rarely cloud free in the Lake District, especially at this time of the year.
That doesn't mean that there aren't views to be had if you're in the right place at the right time.

This morning on Helvellyn was one of those times with the sunrise managing to pierce the clouds hugging the summit, creating some stunning light.

We can't guarantee that the conditions will always be like this, but Helvellyn via Striding Edge is one of the most spectacular mountain walks in the entire Lale District.
