🩰✨ A VERY SPECIAL MILESTONE! ✨🩰

This week our students took their first steps onto pointe — a moment they have worked incredibly hard to achieve! 💕🩰

Pointe work is so much more than simply going up onto the toes. It requires strength, control, balance, understanding and excellent ballet technique to ensure it is approached safely and correctly.

Our dancers have worked diligently to develop these skills and have successfully passed their ISTD Grade 4 Ballet examination, demonstrating the technique, strength and understanding needed to begin this exciting new chapter in their ballet journey. 🌟

We are so incredibly proud of each of you

Your first pointe lesson is a moment you will never forget — and this is just the beginning! 🩰✨
Congratulations, dancers! 💗
Here’s to many more magical moments en pointe! 🌸

Does it matter who teaches your child? 🩰✨

We believe it matters more than you might think.
When there are so many dance schools, classes and activities to choose from, finding the right one for your child can feel like a big decision.

But alongside what your child will learn, have you ever thought about who will be teaching them?

At Sharon Phillips School of Dancing, we’re incredibly proud that all of our teachers are either fully qualified or currently training through the ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing) — one of the world’s leading dance teaching organisations.
For us, being qualified is about so much more than having a certificate.
It represents years of learning, training and dedication. It means understanding not only how to dance, but how to teach dance well.

Our teachers are trained to:
✨ Teach technique correctly and safely
✨ Adapt lessons to suit different ages and abilities
✨ Encourage children and help them grow in confidence
✨ Understand how children learn and develop
✨ Create a positive environment where children can thrive
✨ Inspire a genuine love of dance
✨ Continue developing their own knowledge and teaching skills
And our teachers never stop learning. We believe continuing professional development is an important part of being a great teacher.

Every child is different, and every child deserves a teacher who can recognise that — someone who is knowledgeable, supportive, encouraging and passionate about helping them reach their potential. ❤️
Because dance is about so much more than learning steps.
It’s about confidence, creativity, discipline, friendships, self-expression and discovering a love of movement that can last a lifetime.
So, when choosing a dance school for your child, perhaps one of the most important questions to ask is:
“Who is teaching my child?”
For us, the answer really matters. ❤️🩰
And it’s something we’re very proud of. 📣✨

✨ Our Patchway Venue – Where It All Began! ✨

Welcome to St Chads Church Hall in Patchway – a spacious, welcoming venue with plenty of parking… and a very special place in our hearts 💖

This is where my own dance journey began, many years ago. I took my very first lessons here and danced until the age of 12, before changing schools. Back then, dancing was just a hobby I loved – I never imagined it would become my career.
Fast forward a few years… I was asked to take over the school with fewer than 20 pupils. I started teaching Saturday mornings, took my qualifications at the Judith Hockaday School of Dancing, and before I knew it, dancing had become my full-time job. I took over the Alveston branch, and the school just kept growing!

From a trainee accountant to a dance teacher, I took a leap – and I’ve never looked back.

So to all the teens unsure of their future: I was too. Say yes to opportunities – you never know where they’ll lead. I can’t imagine doing anything else now 🩰❤️
📍 We teach at Patchway on Mondays and Saturdays – come join us! Only 5 minutes away from The Mall at Cribbs Causeway
