The BRC Endurance Team Championships are being held on the South Coast this year at Tenantry Farm, Rockbourne in September and this is a great opportunity for members of HRRC to have a go at Endurance.
It does not matter if you don’t have any Endurance experience yet. If you can take part in a fun ride then you could definitely have a go at Riding Club Endurance as the tier 1 qualifiers start at 20km (12 miles).
Not only are the Champs in Rockbourne but there is also a ride at the same venue in April so its possible for members to form a team, take part in April and qualify for the Champs in September without having to travel long distances or interfere with other disciplines that they may be involved in.
The following local(ish) rides offer a foundation GER which can be used as a qualifier, we just need a minimum of 3 HRRC members to form a team at any ride:
16 April 2023 - Breamore Downs (Tenantry Farm) - 20km Foundation GER
28 May 2023 - Hornshill (Rudgwick, West Sussex) - 21km Foundation GER
18 June 2023 - Polesden Lacey (Great Bookham EC Surrey) - 20km Foundation GER
7 to 9 July 2023 - Cirencester (Glos) - 22km Foundation GER (on all 3 days)
30 July 2023 - Southdowns (Findon, West Sussex) - 20km Foundation GER
2 September 2023 - Three Rivers (Tenantry Farm) - Tier 1 champs - 25km
You can join EGB as a 'free' supporter member. EGB then adds your HRRC membership number to your membership which enables you to enter a Foundation GER as a temporary day club member.
With all GERS you present to the farrier and vet prior to starting the ride, your horse's heart rate is taken and you trot up for the vet. Your horse is then vetted again within 30 minutes of your return. All routes are marked with tape.
If we do have enough interest to form a team then I will arrange a meet up to run through what to expect on the day, timings etc.
It is great fun and an opportunity to ride your horse in different places in a supportive environment.
With best wishes
Emma

*** Riding Club Endurance ***
Would you like to have a go at Endurance but maybe don’t know what's involved or how to take part???
There is an evening talk to answer these questions on Wednesday 8 March at Tilefield Equestrian in Brockenhurst at 7pm
The BRC Endurance Team Championships are being held on the South Coast this year at Tenantry Farm, Rockbourne in September and this is a great opportunity for HRRC members to have a go at Endurance.
It does not matter if you don’t have any Endurance experience yet, this talk is here to help, answer your questions and let you know how to enter and take part in an Endurance ride. If you can take part in a fun or hunt ride then you could definitely have a go at Endurance as plenty of distances are on offer starting at 10 mile routes. Most people just need a little information so that they know how to enter, how to prepare for the day and what to do when they get there.
Not only are Champs in Rockbourne but there is also a ride at the same venue in April so its possible for people for form a team, take part in April and qualify for the Champs in September without having to travel long distances or interfere with other disciplines that they may be involved in.

Have you ever thought about Endurance riding, some of you had a small sample of this at Junior Camp last year. If you enjoyed this and would like to get a little bit more practice or would like to find out more Area 13 are holding an endurance training day at Hornshill Farm Wednesday 29th May which is being organised by the HHPC.
This is a full day, including flatwork for endurance lesson, learning how to take your pony's pulse and crew him plus a 10km marked training ride in the afternoon, which will be a qualifying ride for the pony club grassroots endurance champs. This is open to all members age 5 upwards and it would be really lovely to see some HH members there. (Children under 13 need to be accompanied by an adult either on horse or bicycle). Bookings can be made via the Hhpc website.
