Massive thank you to Brian for showing us around A&J Scott’s this week. Always an informative tour. Seeing what new sections have been added over the years of us going and seeing how the company keeps growing and growing.

We were delighted to welcome members of Alnwick Young Farmers to A&J Scott for a tour of the sawmill.

It was a great opportunity to show the group around the site and give them an insight into our operations, from timber arriving at the mill through to the processes involved in producing our finished products.

A special thank you to Brian for taking the time to show everyone around and share his knowledge of the mill.

Last Monday some of our members had a wonderful evening with a few Berwick YFC members on a trip to the Farne Islands.

It was a fabulous trip where we saw plenty of sea birds even a couple of the last puffins for the season, along with a few seals that popped their heads up to say hello.

If you’re ever in the area we highly recommend a sunset cruise out to the Farne Islands. If you want to get a glimpse of the puffins we definitely recommend heading out before the end of July.

Last night 10 of our members had a very interesting and informative tour of Torness Nuclear Power Station.

Where we got to have a glimpse of inside where reactor 1 and reactor 2 sit (large building behind us) along with a walk to the turbine hall.

Interesting learning about the life line of the power station and how the use of sea water and uranium are used to create engery to power homes and businesses.
