A local derby that had it all! ⚽🔥
Alnwick Percy Rovers welcomed Alnmouth FC for a fiercely contested NCFL Premier League derby, and the performance showed just how far this Percy Rovers side has come as a team over the past 12 months.
With five goals, yellow cards for both sides and a red card for Alnmouth, there was plenty of drama throughout the evening — but ultimately it was a superb team performance from Percy Rovers that sealed an emphatic 5–0 victory.
Percy Rovers opened the scoring in the first half after a fantastic ball over the top from Declan Malone picked out Joseph Fife. Joseph showed excellent strength and composure before producing a great finish to give Percy Rovers a deserved 1–0 lead at half-time.
The second half saw Percy Rovers take complete control, adding another four goals.
The first came from the penalty spot after an incident that resulted in a red card for the Alnmouth defender. Up stepped Louis Scott, who kept his composure against his former team to coolly convert and make it 2–0 Percy Rovers.
Goal number three was another fantastic team move. Eithan Balmbra showed brilliant hold-up play before playing a superb pass out to Josh Penman. Josh then delivered a perfectly weighted ball into the feet of Finley Straughan, who calmly slotted home to make it 3–0.
Percy Rovers were then awarded a second penalty of the game, and once again Louis Scott stepped up to convert, scoring his second penalty of the evening and extending the lead to 4–0.
The final goal of the night was a real moment of quality. From a free kick on the corner of the 18-yard box, Josh Penman unleashed an absolute rocket into the top corner to seal a fantastic night for Percy Rovers and complete a brilliant 5–0 victory. 🚀⚽
