Over 3 days within the space of a week we have held our annual “All-in” competition. Exactly as it says, this is open, level play, to all of our members regardless of handicap and is a knock out competition with semi finals and a final…… we have been amazingly lucky with the weather which held off brilliantly on the days we played and poured on the ones in between ! ☔️😬…..
A few snaps from the week including our new winner… Tom 👏🏆 …who takes the trophy from last year’s winner , Wendy.
The four finalists were Tom, Ian, Derek and Wendy.
Thanks to John & Hilda who stepped in to help with scoring and time keeping….also Ian, Lyn & Hilda for delicious treats.
Well done to all that took part, a lot of fun and laughter as always.

Today our 2nd division Alnmouth Greens had a trip over to the beautiful setting of Belsay Castle & Gardens to meet Belsay Hall for the final match in their, and indeed the club’s, league calendar across all 3 divisions.
Belsay took an early lead and by the half way mark were comfortably well in front.
After lunch, and as the afternoon progressed, Belsay kept their strong lead and Alnmouth Greens, despite some great efforts, well fought & close games, couldn’t catch up. 6 golden hoops were contested which shows how close the games were. A single shot the difference between winning and losing a game. Closer than the score would suggest

Final result Belsay Hall - 16
Alnmouth Greens -2
Well done to everyone

Yesterday our 3rd division Alnmouth Purples welcomed lovely Backworth to our lawns for their final match in the league calendar on what turned out to be a beautiful warm day indeed with some good play by both teams. . Our Purples took an early lead but were aware that Backworth were nipping at their heels and managed to keep the lead and win the match 12-6 .

Both teams had a fabulous day, great team spirit and some laughs, as it should be.
This is an important division in the league which sees many players, including new ones with ambition, enjoy some competitive croquet , see different lawns, meet other teams and get more familiar with the game and it’s rules. A great entry point to league croquet.

Thanks to Hilda for her delicious sausage rolls! 😊… and Ian for his, now very familiar, much loved home made cake. It would not be the same without it !! 🍰

Final result 12-6 to Alnmouth Purples

Alnmouth Red Team treat today from me, team captain, Wendy…. We didn’t get the trophy, as there is only one, 🫤 ( we were pipped by Durham Bede on hoop difference ..since we tied) but we share the Top spot on matches so we will settle for that……………..this year!! 😊

Thanks to my team , Tom, Ian & Ann for their efforts and support this season. 👏. We go again next year.

Today our 2nd division Alnmouth Greens had a drive down the A1 to Tyneside for their penultimate match of the league calendar. With the sun shining and short sleeves showing our Greens took an early lead and by half way were just ahead by a game.
After lunch Tyneside Hunters hunted down some wins and took the lead and then kept it so the final result was a win for Tyneside 10.5 - 7.5

Well done both teams , a close match.

Today our 1st division Alnmouth Blues took a trip down the A1 to Durham Bede to play the final match of the league calendar.
Under sunny skies Alnmouth Blues had some close games and played some fabulous shots and jumps but Durham were not letting them get the wins and took them to a final score of 13-5 .
Despite the scoreline Alnmouth Blues had a great day against a great team we know and respect so well now.

This final result meant that Durham Bede finished joint 1st position at the top of the table with Alnmouth Reds….

So now total games won over all matches decides a winner and Durham Bede take the trophy 🏆 based on games won… they win by 7.5 games.

Well done Durham 👏…
we go again next year 😎…

Yesterday our first division ‘Alnmouth Reds’ took a trip south to our furthest away opponents Bishop Aukland for the final match in our league calendar.
The forecast was for heavy , thundery showers and we certainly got a couple of those, however for most of the day the sun shone through and It was coats off, shoulders back, heads down and try and win the last match. ( first lesson of the day , check you have your own mallet and not somebody else’s from your own club 90 minutes away! 🤦🏼‍♀️😳)
Alnmouth Reds took an early lead and kept it for a good while until Bishop Auckland caught up taking us to 7-7 .
In the last spurt they won all 4 to take the win 11-7 .
Disappointing for Alnmouth Reds to not secure the final win but well done Bishop Aukland, all players on top form.
The result leaves Alnmouth Reds top of the league table, with Durham at their heels , a game in hand ….. a win for them will see us share the top spot … with just hoops run deciding the outright winner. 😊..

Yesterday our 2nd division “Alnmouth Greens “ had a day out at lovely Backworth, avoiding the forecasted raindrops, for their next match in the calendar.
Backworth got off to a flying start and took an early and then clear lead. After lunch our Greens had a little more luck and got a couple of wins on lawns that, although beaten on, are a delight to play on regardless. Thoroughly enjoyed day by all.
The final score Backworth B 14.5
Alnmouth Greens 3.5

A grand day out yesterday ……. Sunshine and great company as always at the Bamburgh Pairs Competition…… well done to our own Ian & John for finishing just one point short of the winners, Bamburgh 🏆.
Well done also to Chris ( Alnmouth)& Jane ( Bishop Aukland) for finishing 3rd in their group.
Today is as much about the company and everyone enjoying croquet as winning a trophy ( ish 😄) … we had some laughs and one of the highlights, funnily enough, was helping the 2 delightful tourists who had made their way from London that morning just to see Bamburgh Castle and at almost 3pm … were asking how to get back to Newcastle by 6pm for their train back to London which was proving trickier than they had expected ! …. They finally made it onto a double decker to Berwick which would get them onto the right train home ! Tom to the rescue as taxi if it had all fallen apart. 🙌…
