This is a notice to members to ask that they take their stuff out of the bag room as work will take place over the winter to tidy this up with any left items being disposed of.

We ask that this is done prior to the end of year presentation night.

Thanks

Last July we had our annual fixture at Patons, Brian Ramsay was drafted into play with Sandy & Liz and was wanted his own Cambus top for the day, so we delivered.

A great day was had by everyone and it's still spoken about a year and what ultimately ended up being one of Sandy's last games.

After having such a good day in a Cambus top, Rambo made sure everyone signed it and as a memory of the day.

We were delighted to have this donated to the club and want to thank Rambo and Derek for getting this framed by Fanatikool Furnishings, it looks fantastic!

A cracking day for closing day this afternoon with the weather holding out

Wishing everyone a great closed season and looking forward to seeing you all in April!

Unfortunately, the weather curtailed an enjoyable day and brought an end to yesterday's bowls for the Sandy Harrower Memorial Day.

A decision was made, along with the players, to turn the day's prize money into a donation to charity, meaning around £1,300 was raised for Strathcarron Hospice to help them provide the fantastic care they do.

We'd like to thank everyone for coming along and enjoying the day and The Royal Oak for the fantastic food that was put on for the day.

As many asked on the day, we will look to host the event next year, a bit earlier and hopefully with better weather!

Testing is so important in allowing people a chance to beat disease

So don't be shy, if you are over the age of 40 please take the opportunity to get tested!

1 in 10 men in Scotland are diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in their lifetime, making it the most commonly diagnosed cancer among men. 5,000 men are diagnosed each year and there are currently over 32,000 living with, and after, Prostate Cancer in Scotland.

Additionally, if your father or brother has been diagnosed, you are 2.5x more likely to be diagnosed. This likelihood increasing significantly if they were diagnosed before 60 or if you have had multiple family members diagnosed.

With a survival rate of over 80%, it is one of the most treatable cancers provided it is caught early. Unfortunately, in Scotland late-stage diagnosis is more common than anywhere else in the United Kingdom (35% compared with 21% in England & 19% in Wales). This severely impacts treatment options and survival rates. A key reason behind this is there is simply not enough tests being done.

Testing is only available by appointment only, lasting around 15 minutes. There is no physical exam, only a blood test, with results being shared only with you within 72 hours.

If you are over 40 and want to get tested, appointments can be made at the link below.
