For years we’ve been told that exercise is about changing how we look.

A smaller dress size.
A flatter stomach.
A bigger bum.
A lower number on the scales.

And whilst there’s absolutely nothing wrong with having aesthetic goals, that’s never been the whole story.

I train because it gives me energy.

Energy to build my business.
Energy to enjoy holidays.
Energy to walk Bailey.
Energy to show up for the people who matter most.

I train because it makes me feel strong, capable, resilient and confident.

The workout itself is only a tiny part of my week.

What really matters is everything it allows me to do outside the gym.

You do need honesty.

Every choice we make moves us either towards or away from the life we want.

A massive HUGE well done to for completing the West Highland Way! What an incredible achievement!

Miles walked, sore feet, probably questionable weather, and a whole lot of determination later… she’s crossed that finish line and I’m so bloody proud.

This challenge wasn’t just about the walking, it was about pushing outside the comfort zone, proving what she’s capable of, and raising money for a cause close to her heart.

Plot twist: strength training doesn’t have to look one specific way.

Taking a wee break from OLY lifting while I let a few niggles calm down. That doesn’t mean “giving up” or “going backwards.”

Today was an unapologetically upper-body bro session and guess what… it still counts. It still builds strength. It still supports the bigger goal: being strong, capable, and able to train for life.

Flexibility in training isn’t weakness. It’s actually the smart bit.

There’s more than one way to get strong.

Four years ago, I became a coach.

At the time, I honestly don’t think I fully understood what that would grow into.

What started as a passion for helping people move, get stronger, and feel better in themselves has become something so much bigger than sets, reps, and step counts.

Over the last four years, Thrive has evolved in ways I could never have imagined.

Different gyms. Different spaces. Different seasons. Plenty of lessons. A lot of figuring it out as I went.

But through every version of Thrive, one thing has stayed the same: the people.

What we’ve built isn’t just coaching.

It’s a community.

A place where people are supported through the messy middle. Where confidence gets rebuilt. Where showing up counts, even when life feels chaotic. Where strength means far more than what’s on the bar.

THRIVE has become more than a name.

Transformation, because change is always possible, even when it feels slow.
Health, because feeling well matters more than chasing extremes.
Resilience, because setbacks are part of the story, not the end of it.
Inspiration, because one person showing up often gives someone else permission to start.
Vitality, because life should feel energetic, not just endured.
Empowerment, because the goal was never dependence… it was confidence.

And alongside that, the heart of it all:✨ Community✨ Wellness✨ Strength

If you’d told me four years ago that this wee idea would grow into the supportive, encouraging community it is now, I’m not sure I’d have believed you.

To every single person who has trained with me, trusted me, cheered others on, shown up on hard days, celebrated wins big and small, and helped shape Thrive into what it is…

One of my amazing clients, Laima, set off today to walk the West Highland Way.

Not only is this an incredible physical challenge (96 miles self-sufficient with wild camping), she’s doing it to raise money for Breast Cancer Now after the support they gave her through her own cancer journey.

The strength and resilience Laima has shown is truly inspirational.

This is exactly why movement matters so much. It’s not about perfection, aesthetics, or punishment. It’s about building confidence, capability, resilience, and proving to yourself that you can do hard things.

She’s trained hard for this, long walks, testing gear, preparing physically and mentally, and now she’s out there doing it.

One year of Kat at Thrive

What a year it’s been.

In just 12 months, Kat has become stronger than she ever thought possible, both physically and mentally.

She’s already earned her place in the exclusive 100kg club with her amazing deadlift strength.

Kat never shies away from hard work. She loves pushing herself in sessions, especially when there’s a spicy wee finisher thrown in at the end!

Best of all, she leaves every session absolutely buzzing, and that energy is what it’s all about.

Stronger, fitter, more confident, and still hungry for more.

So proud of everything you’ve achieved this year Kat.
