🏏 ACC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK 🏏

Another outstanding weekend across the club saw some superb performances with both bat and ball, making this week’s selection one of the toughest of the season.

👏 Ryan Coe – 57 runs for the Sunday XI in a commanding victory over Kirkby Portland CC.

👏 Graham Hibbert – An unbeaten 81 for the 2nd XI, helping rescue the innings before guiding the side to a huge win over Nutbrook CC.

👏 Zabiullah Ahmadzai – Back-to-back five-wicket hauls for the 1st XI, finishing the weekend with an incredible 10 wickets.

👏 Luke Newton – A magnificent 122* for the 2nd XI, arriving at the crease with the side under pressure and producing one of the innings of the season.

👏 Owen Comins – A crucial 68 in the same innings, helping turn the game around alongside Newton and Hibbert.

👏 Jack Newton – An unbeaten 66 for the Sunday XI, anchoring the innings in a comprehensive victory.

👏 Evan Dando – Outstanding with the ball, claiming 4 wickets as the Sunday XI bowled Kirkby Portland out for just 60.

🏆 Player of the Week goes to Luke Newton for his remarkable unbeaten 122. Coming to the crease with the 2nd XI in deep trouble, Luke produced a match-winning innings that completely changed the course of the game and laid the platform for a 190-run victory.

Another busy Saturday ahead for Alfreton Cricket Club with all three senior sides in action across Derbyshire.

The 1st XI return to Alfreton Park looking to build on recent performances, while both the 2nd and 3rd XI head on the road aiming to continue their positive starts to the season.

🎶 Don’t forget that after the cricket, we’re back in the clubhouse for an evening of classic tunes with DJ Franner’s Retro Night. Everyone is welcome, so come down, enjoy the cricket during the day and join us for a great night at the club afterwards.

🏏 ACC WEEKEND RESULTS 🏏

A weekend of mixed fortunes for Alfreton Cricket Club, with some outstanding individual performances and two emphatic victories highlighting another busy few days across the club.

✅ The 1st XI secured a valuable victory away at Sawley CC despite a testing batting display. Matt New (42) and Jake Simpson (47*) guided Alfreton to 175-9 before Zabiullah Ahmadzai starred with the ball, claiming a superb 5-24, supported by Joe New (2-27).

✅ 2nd XI produced the performance of the weekend, recording a huge 190-run victory over Nutbrook CC. Luke Newton hit an unbeaten 122, while skipper Graham Hibbert added *81 as the pair shared a match-winning partnership. Josh Buckley and Hibbert then claimed three wickets apiece to complete the win.

❌ The 3rd XI were beaten by Chesterfield CC, with Ryan Coe (29) and Tom Bexton (23) providing the main resistance.

✅ Sunday XI were impressive, defeating Kirkby Portland CC by 157 runs. Jack Newton led the way with 66 and Ryan Coe added 57*, before Evan Dando (4-10) and Harry Johnson (3-8) ripped through the visitors’ batting line-up.

✅ Women’s Softball continued their excellent season with a 12-run win over Ashover Barbarians CC, adding another victory to an impressive campaign.

❌ On Sunday, the 1st XI were involved in a thriller at Alfreton Park, narrowly falling five runs short against Wirksworth & Middleton CC. Zabiullah Ahmadzai followed up Saturday’s five-wicket haul with another 5 wickets, while James Aspinall’s unbeaten 42* almost guided Alfreton over the line.
