If Carlsberg did walking football summer days...
Alcester Town Over 65s travelled to Cheltenham today to play three friendly matches against the Muga Warriors, a team just beginning their walking football journey.
The weather was kind, and with both clubs bringing large squads, everyone enjoyed plenty of minutes on the pitch. Alcester Town came away with wins in all three games, but the Muga Warriors played some excellent football and made us work hard for every goal.
A big thank you to referee Alan Griffiths and Yves Brown for helping to arrange the fixture and ensuring a great day's football.
With the new season fast approaching, our focus is always on what we can learn from each game rather than simply the final score. That said, it's always nice to pick up some wins and score a few goals, which certainly helps build confidence ahead of the new campaign.
Our season gets underway on 24 September in the Cotswolds League, and we're looking forward to the challenge.
