Thank you to all that came today to support our annual Andy Mayneord Memorial Tournament. It was a great day and having Andy's parents there made it all that more meaningful. 50% of proceeds will be going towards The British Heart Foundation, so even if you couldn't make it today and would like to make a donation please get in touch. Thank you to Ed Rouse for giving Andy's bench a spruce up. Thank you to James for keeping us in check. Thank you to Matt and Maddy for doing the BBQ, thank you to the members who consistently show up and support our club and a big thank you to our committee, who always represent Alcester Tennis Club at events. Have a lovely bank holiday Monday. Rachel - Chair

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came along today to enjoy a fun memorial morning tournament in memory of Andy, who was recently taken from us far too soon. It was a truly enjoyable event, and we are so grateful for all your generous donations, which will go towards supporting the British Heart Foundation.

A special thank you to the first responders who gave up their bank holiday to demonstrate life-saving skills and how to use a defibrillator — your time and expertise are deeply appreciated.

I'd also like to thank Ed Rouse for preparing and creating a beautiful memorial plaque for Andy.

As Chair of Alcester Tennis Club, I’m proud to say that we are more than just a tennis club — we are a community. Thank you once again to everyone who contributed and helped make today possible.

What a beautiful send off for Andy today. I put together some words for Andy below. We will be organising a friendly tournament in May in memory of Andy.

In Loving Memory of Andy

Andy was more than just a friend; he was a light in the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. A well-loved and respected pillar of the community, he touched so many hearts with his warmth, kindness, and unmistakable sense of humour.

At Alcester Tennis Club, Andy was more than a member—he was part of its very core. Whether it was his cheeky character, his quick wit, or the way he made everyone feel welcome, he had a way of making the club feel like home. He had time for everyone, always ready with a joke, a smile, or a listening ear.

Andy brought laughter into every conversation, made friends feel like family, and left a lasting impression on all who met him. His loss leaves a deep void, but his memory will live on in the stories we share, the laughter he inspired, and the friendships he helped to build.

We will miss his jokes, his humour, his generosity, and, above all, his friendship. But we will carry his spirit with us—on the courts, in our hearts, and in the way we continue to cherish and support one another.

Rest in peace, Andy. You were truly one of a kind.
