Well done to our Ladies first team who came away with a strong 4-0 this evening against Broseley! Well played to Nicki, Alison, Rebecca and Jenni for their efforts this evening 👏🏼🎾

Our ladies have started strongly this season with 4 wins and just the one defeat and currently sit top of the league - keep going guys!🔝🏆

🎾 Shropshire Summer Doubles League - Weekly Round Up 🎾

Another busy week for our teams competing across Shropshire!

Our Ladies second team made the trip to Longden and came away with a hard fought 2-2 draw. This was very nearly a 3-1 win with Jenni and Rebecca losing out in a very close match 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 in the champs tie break, well battled both! Well done also to Beth and Julie who picked up wins and managed a 6-0, 6-0 in the process!

Our Men’s first team travelled to Oswestry for their second match of the season. They came away with another 4-0 win and have kicked off the season in good form! Well done to Jon M, Jon H, Rich and Si J - keep it going gents!

We hope you all have a great bank holiday break and with the fabulous weather to come, why not get on court and hit some tennis balls with us! 🎾☀️

🎾 Shropshire Summer Doubles League - Weekly Round Up 🎾

It’s been another busy week for our teams competing in the Shropshire Summer Doubles League.

Our Ladies 1st team had a busy week alone playing two matches in two days! The first match was a tightly contested 3-1 defeat against Claverley. Well done to Nicki, Alison, Jan and Lynne for their efforts!

The second match saw our Ladies 1st team travel to Broseley in which they reversed the previous evenings scoreline and came away with a great 3-1 win, losing out on a tight champs tie break for the 4th rubber! Well done to Nicki, Alison, Lynne and Bridget for representing the club!

We move over to the Men’s 1st team who played their opening match away at Shrewsbury Lawn. Unfortunately the adverse weather during the day ruled out a rare appearance on the grass courts. The men kicked off the campaign with a great 4-0 win. Well done to Si J, Jon H, Rich and Jon M!

Our final game of this week saw our Ladies 2nd team playing in a local derby welcoming neighbours Shifnal to Albrighton. A great 2-2 draw was played out with some very entertaining tennis on show! Well done to Julie, Katie, Jenni and Charlotte for their performances this evening!

Albrighton Lawn Tennis Club - Come and Join Us! 🎾👟

Interested in giving tennis a go for the first time? Been out the game for a while and want to pick up your racket again? Or maybe you’re looking for a new challenge competing against other teams across Shropshire? We offer it all at ALTC!

Our club caters to players of all abilities - a strong coaching programme for beginners and returners to the game, whilst offering competitive tennis via our Men’s/Ladies and Mixed teams in the Shropshire Doubles leagues if you want to test yourself in a team environment!

Interested in giving it a go? You can come down for free taster sessions at one of our club mix-in nights, or if you’d prefer to just hit a few balls we can arrange for a friendly hit with one of our members.

We currently offer mix in sessions on the following days:

Tuesday Evening: Ladies Night Mix-In
Wednesday Evening: Men’s Night Mix-In
Thursday Morning: Social Mix In
Thursday Evening: Mixed Doubles Social Tennis
Friday Morning: Ladies Social Mix In
Sunday Morning: Mixed Doubles Social Tennis

🏆🎾 2026 Club Championships Review 🏆🎾

We’re one week on from The 2026 Club Championships being played and once again it was a cracking day of tennis!

Our players and spectators were treated to beautiful weather which made the day even more enjoyable and offered a fine backdrop to some highly competitive tennis on show.

The committee would like to thank everyone involved in this years championships - the volunteers on the day, everyone who made and brought food/refreshments and to all who came down and supported the players on the day - a real team effort as always!

Well done to all of our competitors throughout the championships from the early rounds to the final, and congratulations to everyone who competed in the Finals line up.

🎾Shropshire Doubles Summer League - Weekly Round Up🎾

Just the one game this week for Albrighton LTC in the Summer Doubles league.

Our Men’s 3rd team made the short journey over to Claverley and came away with a hard fought 2-2 draw. A couple of champs tie breaks on the day illustrates what a close match this was!

Well done to Si C, Tim, Matt and Michael who represented us on the evening - great effort all 👏🏼🎾

Shropshire Summer Doubles League Action!

Every year Albrighton LTC competes in the Shropshire Summer Doubles League, which brings clubs across Shropshire together to battle it out in their quest for glory!

This year, we have 3 men’s teams and 2 ladies teams entered and are always looking for players to join our teams.

We are a few weeks into the competition and our round up on results is as follows:

Ladies 1st Team:
Our 1st team ladies kicked off the season with a great 3-1 win against Boughey Gardens 3rd team 👏🏼🎾 well done to Jan, Suzanne, Lynne and Alison for their opening day win!

Ladies 2nd Team:
Our 2nd team ladies played their first competitive game in a newly formed team for this season against Shifnal 3rds, losing a hard fought battle 4-0. Great experience for all our players in their first match and they did us proud - well done to Katie, Hannah, Beth and Rebecca!

Men’s 3rd Team:
Another newly formed team for this year saw our Men’s 3rd team kick off with a tricky away trip to Ludlow 5th team. The men came away with a solid 4-0 victory 👏🏼🎾 well done to Simon C, Michael, Jon and Matt for their efforts.

The 3rd team followed this match with a home tie against Telford 4th team. Our team for this evening was a real family effort - a team full of Calvers! A competitive 3-1 defeat in the end, but a top effort by all involved and more experience for our 3rd team lads. Well done to Simon C, Tim C, Nick C and Athen C!

We closed out the 2025 Tennis Season with The Shirley Buckley Trophy. A much-loved, signature event on the ALTC calendar which was played in November and we were once again blessed with some good weather – we were lucky this season that the Weather Gods were clearly fans of our club!

A lot of great tennis on show as always and more importantly a very enjoyable morning of tennis where everyone played and competed in the right spirit. Well done to all who played and to our winners Suzanne and Rich!

One of our favourite events each year is The Wood Cup. Last years event was a thoroughly enjoyable morning of fun-filled doubles action!

A big thank you to Pat Wood who was in attendance and very kindly donated the gifts to our winners and runners-up during the presentation ceremony – thank you Pat and a well done to all our competitors on the day!

As we approach the 2026 Club Championships this coming Sunday, let’s recap on the 2025 Club Championships!

We moved the tournament to April this year and were rewarded with beautiful tennis conditions! Prior to the finals’ day, there was some highly competitive tennis played in the earlier rounds of the competition, and as always, we would like to thank and congratulate everyone who played matches in the Club Champs.

The finals day was strongly supported by fellow members and friends/family of the players competing, making it a great, supportive atmosphere which the players were hugely grateful for. Please see below for the final results for each event, well done to all of our competitors!
