Small group of ladies walked together yesterday to Thorpe Green, starting from Chertsey Abbey ruins: lovely light lunch 🥤🥗 🥪 at The Rose & Crown Pub, chortles and catch ups, sunshine ☀️ and warmth (at times!), then return to Chertsey along Monk’s Walk. 🥾🥾 A lovely easy route (with a few squelchy muddy paths at times), and some super views across the lakes: Abbey Lake, St Ann’s Lake, Manor Lake and Longside Lake. (Check out the map and route below.)
A brief glimpse at the beautiful and historic St Mary’s Church in Thorpe village, and Austen era style houses!
Next time, we’ll walk back across St Ann’s Hill (check out the llamas) and back through Gogmore for variety! 👍
Approx 7 miles.

Guildford to Watts Gallery along the North Downs Way - lovely crisp chilly autumnal walk, undulating and hilly. Beautiful sunset and reflections, glimpse of Loseley House and the Surrey police academy, horses, open fields, artistic speed signs, richly coloured autumn leaves. Lovely walk. Approx 6 (?) mile circuit - we walked back along a footpath down from Watts Gallery for a change of scenery. Park at Sandy Lane off Guildford Rd A3100 if there’s space

Circuit from Fishpool car park on Gracious Pond Rd to Chobham Common late afternoon as the light was fading. Fungi, a female Greater Spotted Woodpecker tapping furiously on a branch, a beautiful young deer, a lot of wet, muddy paths, clear pond water, serene reflections, peaceful fishermen, lots of heavy plant: JCBs, grabbers, diggers etc (new oil pipeline being fitted), Mincing Lane, a Narnia lamppost, horses, bracken, autumn colours, a breath of fresh air and an abandoned burnt-out car 😞.

Walk to Ottershaw from Chertsey today - chilly this morning but soon got warm walking.
Route attached! Dangerous road to cross (A320 St Peter’s Way), a busy and concealed pathway onto busy Murray Rd in Ottershaw - (take care!) and flooded M25 underpass but a great walk! Approx 5.5 miles. Starting by the cemetery in Eastworth Rd opposite Tesco Express. Download an OS map to your phone!

A bit further afield this week - towards Guildford - Silent Pool, Albury Vineyard, steep hilly terrain, Newlands Corner, marvellous phenomenon - linked tree trunks - growing across to each other 🌳, North Downs Way, dappled light, some warming sunshine,☀️ some darker, overcast grey skies, ☁️ a fascinating wood sculpture, lush green views, St Martha’s Hill, steep, steep hills, a wooden stile, knotty tree roots, hill-top church, ⛪️ poignant gravestones, sandy footpaths, 🥾🥾 WWII gunning emplacements, Albury Park, beautiful architecture, tranquility, Silent Pool gin distillery, 🍸 , a wonderful walk - just under 2 hours, just under 6 miles. Park at Silent Pool car park, which is free parking and walk up to Newlands Corner (steep gnarly path) and follow the route.

This week: Adventure and challenge to walk Chertsey to Guildford along the WeyNav. Seemed like a good idea when we set off! 🤷‍♀️
Sunshine, ☀️ showers, 🌧 sunshine, ☀️thunder, ⛈ torrential rain, 💦💦💦 We got soaked through! Soggy packed lunches, lush and green pastures, muddy puddles, noble oaks, damsel flies, the hope of a glimpse of a kingfisher, graffiti-art, colourful narrow boats, ducklings, reflections, waterproofs that weren’t waterproof 🤦‍♀️ and at about 13 miles, a welcome ‘rescue’ lift home to a warm bath and cups of tea! ‘Rain stopped play’ 😞 but We’ll be back soon! 🥾🥾

Humid, damp, threatening to rain, some rumbles of thunder, but a wonderful walking adventure starting from Heather Farm.
Brambles and nettles very overgrown by the river, some soggy, muddy patches, a few roads to navigate to join footpaths, fields with horses, a view of the Woking towers, brief look past Fairoaks airport, Emmetts Mill, some bridges, lots of grappling with undergrowth and lots of fun! Just under 5 miles. A few stiles, some very overgrown footpaths and some dappled tree line paths. Worth the walk!

Went back to revisit the bluebells this week - they’re still in flower! 💙
We also saw that the sheep have been sheared! Slightly bald now! 😲
And the rhododendron are gorgeous!
