Our stewards are an essential part of making every Cliviger Riding Club show run smoothly, and we’d love to welcome both familiar faces and new volunteers to the team.

No previous stewarding experience is necessary – just enthusiasm, reliability, and a willingness to help. It’s a fantastic way to spend a day around horses, meet new people, and support your local riding club.

Laminitis Awareness post

Laminitis - Be Aware

The wet weather we have had today, followed by the forecasted warm weather to come, will see the grass flush! This increases the risk for those prone to laminitis. Being vigilant and looking out for the signs will help you catch it early, making the prognosis for recovery much better.

Laminitis in horses is a serious condition characterized by the inflammation of the laminae - the tissues that connect the hoof wall to the pedal bone in a horse's foot. This inflammation can disrupt blood flow, leading to swelling and damage to the laminae, which causes severe pain and lameness. The condition can affect any number of feet but is most commonly seen in the front feet.

Symptoms can include:
• A strong or bounding digital pulse in the hooves.
• Heat in the hooves and increased sensitivity, especially over the toe area.
• Reluctance to move, walk on hard surfaces, or turn in tight circles.
• Visible lameness, which may be more pronounced on hard ground.
• A "rocking back" stance or shifting weight off the forehand to relieve pressure on the hooves.
• Laying down more frequently than usual.
• Sweating, elevated temperature, and signs of pain.
• In severe cases, the pedal bone may rotate downward, potentially puncturing the sole.

You should consult a vet immediately if you suspect your horse is showing signs of laminitis, as early intervention can be key to managing the condition successfully.

A great chance to meet up with like minded people and enjoy the scenes in Burnley

For anyone that stables too far to back down you can park a few miles away from the meet up point and ride in 🐴

🏇 Daneshouse & Stoneyholme Rendezvous 🏇
‼️ Explained ‼️

There's some confusion as to what our Rendezvous Rides entail..so here we go 👇👇

🔸️ The aim of the event is that you ride from your own stables to the Rendezvous Point (Daneshouse Community Centre)
🔸️ You plot/choose your own route to the Rendezvous Point
🔸️ Everyone meets there at 12pm having ridden their horses from their stables.
Or walked/cycled from home.
We have a lovely catch up, meet fellow explorers, enjoy some refreshments, pick up your rossette and a treat for your trusty steed.
🔸️ You get back on your horse/bike/feet and ride/cycle/walk back home from said Rendezvous Point.

🧭 It's the chance for you to embrace your sense of adventure and we're here to help you

✅️ Riders, cyclists and walkers all welcome

❌️ It is not a guided ride, it is not a mapped or marked out route.

From a tiny 7 year old stepping into the ring at Cliviger Riding Club for the very first time, to now qualifying for the incredible Al Shira’aa Royal International Horse Show… what a journey it has been for Éire Tracey and her beautiful Dartmoor pony Westown Royal Roulette ✨

We have had the pleasure of watching Éire grow up in the ring over the years, developing into such a talented, dedicated and determined young rider. From those early nervous rounds to competing on some of the biggest stages in the country, she has worked so hard every step of the way and continues to do Cliviger RC proud 💙

Westown Royal Roulette has been the perfect partner for her, and together they make such a fantastic team. Their qualification for RIHS is an amazing achievement and so well deserved.

Everyone at Cliviger Riding Club is incredibly proud of Éire and we cannot wait to follow their adventure at Hickstead. Good luck girls — enjoy every second, you’ve earned it! 🌟🐴

By supporting this ride, you’re also supporting the incredible work Burnley Bridleways Association do for local riders and equestrians. For decades they’ve worked tirelessly to maintain and protect Burnley’s bridleways, research and reopen historic routes, improve access for riders, and help keep our countryside accessible for future generations to enjoy. They truly are a huge asset to the local equestrian community ❤️

From maintaining routes and reporting issues, to lobbying for better equestrian access and preserving historic packhorse trails, the association continues to make a real difference for riders across Burnley and beyond.

Whether you’re coming for the scenery, the company, the horses, or simply a great day out — they’d love to see you there!
