Monday 7th September: Showers in west Scotland from dawn, spreading east. Gales across the highlands, severe northwest, feeling cold. Early rain in England and Wales breaks for sun through high cloud, windy in the north. Prolonged rain arrives into south Scotland from midday, spreading into north England with time, and later Wales.

WIN ONE OF OUR NEW VENTILE OVERSHIRTS! 🤩

Continuing our tradition of naming our clothing after iconic Scottish mountains, lochs and places, we're running a competition to guess the name our new Ventile Overshirt.

Like all of our Ventile shirts, the new Ventile Overshirt is named after a place in the beautiful West Highland area of Kintail, which is full of stunning mountains and seascapes.

A clue: An iconic castle featured in several movies is located nearby.
The winner will receive a new Ventile Overshirt with options, worth up to £315.

Craigendinnie Hill – Access Update 🚵‍♂️

Tree harvesting and extraction works on Craigendinnie Hill are now complete, and all mountain bike routes at Craigendinnie are open, apart from the bottom section of Friends Electric.

Please note that timber haulage is still ongoing while timber is removed from the site.

⚠️ Please take care around forestry operations:

Follow all safety signs and any instructions on site

Do not approach forestry machinery or timber lorries

Keep a minimum safe distance of 50 metres from active forestry operations, and stay further back if instructed by signage or site personnel

Be alert for moving trucks, machinery and timber being loaded or unloaded

Give forestry vehicles plenty of space and do not attempt to pass them unless it is clearly safe to do so

Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe while haulage continues.

The ongoing fire in the northern Cairngorms is being driven south on strong winds. The fire is approaching the northern part of Mar Lodge Estate, and therefore as a precaution, we are closing the car parks at the Linn of Dee and Linn of Quoich.

The fire is still a significant distance away, and there is no immediate risk to buildings or property on Mar Lodge Estate.

However, given that this is a serious fire, and that many people choose to walk through the Cairngorms from these car parks, particularly at weekends, we have taken this decision as a precaution, to protect the public, and to help facilitate any emergency response, should it be required.

🌲 Forestry Operations on Craigendinnie Hill 🌲

We will be commencing forestry operations on Craigendinnie Hill next week which will last for up to 4 weeks. These works are being carried out to improve the quality of the remaining woodland to encourage natural regeneration by increasing light to the forest floor, and harvest sustainable timber for use in construction, pallets, fencing products, and renewable heat and electricity.

⚠️ Please note that public access will be affected. Temporary track closures will be in place during weekdays to ensure public safety, and work will be ongoing 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

For your safety:
• Please avoid operational areas and obey all track closures and safety signage.
• Keep well clear of forestry machinery at all times and follow any instructions from staff.
• If you're unsure whether an area is safe to enter, please avoid it.

The accompanying map shows the forestry operation area and the main affected tracks.
