Congratulations Vicky! What an incredible achievement!

Aberdeen woman Vicky Antipatis (nee Lakin) is a Wimbledon champion after lifting the ITF World Tennis Seniors 55+ singles event with a 6-1, 6-2 final victory over England’s Linda Jones at the All England Club.

Vicky becomes the first Aberdonian to win a seniors singles title at Wimbledon since the late, great Jimmy Wood and was achieved after reaching the final of the recent ITF Seniors Open in Barcelona where she also triumphed in the Mixed Doubles event. North of Scotland county player Vicky is now ranked fifteen in the world in her age group and number two in the united Kingdom.

As a part of our Centenary celebrations, Aboyne Tennis Club held a local business window dressing competition.
We have seen some amazing window displays from 15 local businesses!
Huge congratulations to At The Sign Of The Black Faced Sheep for taking 1st place!

Our runners up were Corner House Aboyne in 2nd place and Courie Courie Bakery in 3rd place.

A reminder that we'll be hosting a free "centenary cream tea" at the club from 2-4pm this afternoon for all members, family, friends and invited guests. At 3pm we'll be announcing the winners of our window dressing competition which has seen some fabulous entries by local businesses. From 1pm onwards we'll have some wooden racquets available to have a fun hit with, for those interested. Hope to see you there!
