Race Day Recap 🏁

After a few weekends away from racing, today brought a complete shake-up by having both passengers out! Guy was behind the bars with Lathan in the passenger seat, ready for a fun day and to enjoy every second.

Today wasn’t about chasing results or stressing over where we finished it was about having fun and doing what we love. From the first lap to the last, we enjoyed every moment and had big smiles on our faces. We had a brilliant day and enjoyed every bit of it.

Hi all, unfortunately our team won’t be at Monster Mountain this weekend as we’re currently dealing with some unexpected mechanical issues with our van. We’re really disappointed to miss it, but appreciate your understanding and support. Hopefully we’ll be back out at the next race.

Weekend race results 🏁

Practice
Practice was a really valuable session for us this weekend. It was our first time out on this track, so the main focus was learning getting a feel for the layout, understanding the rhythm, and figuring out the best lines. By the end of the session, we had a much better understanding of where we could push and where we needed to stay cautious.

Race One
We lined up in a solid gate position and got off to a decent start, settling into the middle of the pack early on. Unfortunately, not long into the race, we ran into a frustrating issue with the clutch. It forced us to pull in which cut our race short before we really had a chance to get going. A disappointing outcome, but we worked quickly to fix the problem in time for the next race.

Race Two
Heading into race two, we were back on the gate and ready to go again. Another steady start put us in the mix mid-pack, but this time everything held together mechanically. With no further issues, we were able to stay consistent throughout the race and bring it home in 19th place. Not exactly where we want to be, but a solid recovery considering the earlier setback.

Race Day 2 of 2 🏁

Today was a return to normal, with Terry and Guy back out on track together and ready to build on yesterday’s progress Terry and Lathan achieved.

Practice
Practice was Guy’s first opportunity to really get a proper feel for the updated track layout and the adjustments that had been made. He settled in well, taking time to understand the lines and how the bike responded to the changes. Thanks to the heavy rain yesterday, the track conditions had improved significantly. It wasn’t as rough, which made for a much more manageable and enjoyable session overall.

Race One
Race one went smoothly for both riders. They got solid starts, rode consistently, and avoided any major issues. The bike performed well throughout, and both Terry and Guy were able to settle into a good rhythm and enjoy the race without any setbacks. They brought it home in 14th place, a solid result and a strong way to kick things off.

Race Two
Race two started positively, but unfortunately things took a turn early on. Coming off the start and heading into the first corner, there was an incident that left us without a clutch for the remainder of the race. Despite the setback, both riders pushed on and did what they could under the circumstances, but it was definitely frustrating as they had been riding well up to that point. Even with the issue, they managed to finish 19th. The team worked quickly between races and managed to diagnose and fix the problem in time for the final race of the day.

Race Three
With the clutch problem resolved, race three was a much smoother and more enjoyable experience. Both riders were able to ride to their full potential again, and it showed in their performance. The race flowed far better, confidence was back, and they crossed the line in 15th place, rounding off the day on a positive note and, as joked in the camp, it’s amazing how much better things feel when you’ve got a clutch!

Looking forward to doing it all again next Sunday at Ironworks for round 2 of the British championship, see you all there!

Race Day 1 of 2 🏁

Today brought a bit of a change to the usual lineup, as we welcomed Guy’s nephew, Lathan, into the team to begin training as an additional passenger. It was great to get him involved and start building upon his experience.

Practice
Practice sessions went really well. The track has recently been redone, so it took some time to learn the new layout and surface, but we quickly got into a rhythm. Confidence grew with each lap, and by the end of practice we were feeling comfortable and dialed in. The changes to the track made things interesting, but overall it was an enjoyable session and set us up nicely for the races ahead.

Race 1
The first race ran for the full 15 minutes plus one lap, and it couldn’t have gone much smoother. The bike performed flawlessly with no issues at all, and everything felt solid out on track. We settled into a good pace early on and maintained consistency throughout and finished 20th. By the end of the race, we were feeling strong and eager to get straight back out there.

Race 2
Race two continued in the same positive direction. Once again, the bike ran perfectly and allowed us to focus purely on riding and improving our performance. The team worked well together, and it was another thoroughly enjoyable race from start to finish managing to gain a few positions and finished 18th. Confidence continued to build, and we were really starting to find our flow.

Race 3
Unfortunately, race three was cut short to just 7 minutes through to the choice of race officials, which was a bit disappointing as we were keen for another full run. Despite the shorter duration, we still made the most of it and enjoyed every minute on track gaining some more positions we finished 16th. It capped off a strong and productive day overall.

Overall we are proud with are race results today especially for it being Lathan’s first official racesWe’re feeling positive heading into tomorrow. Lathan gained some valuable experience today both on and off track with having debriefs with Guy after every race and finding ways to better his passenger skills, and for Race Day 2 it will be back to Terry and Guy pairing up for the three races.

Looking forward to getting back out there and pushing even harder tomorrow.

First race meeting of the season done and dusted 🏁🏁

Despite a last-minute venue change from Warmingham Lane to Culham, everything came together really well in the end and it was great to finally get back out on track after a few years break.

Race 1 went fairly well overall. We had a strong start and settled into a good rhythm, but unfortunately ran into a bit of trouble with the gear leaver during the race. Even with the issue, we managed to push through and bring it home in 20th place. After the race, the we worked hard to fix the problem, getting everything sorted ready for race 2.

Race 2 was a much smoother run with no further gear leaver issues. It felt much better and we were able to race more confidently and consistently throughout. That paid off with a solid improvement, finishing in 17th place.

All in all, a positive start to the season with some good progress made and plenty to build on going forward. Looking forward to the next round bring on Up Avon on the 18/19 April 💪🏁
