Yesterday was a huge day for WestCoast as we celebrated four new blue belts! These belts were earned through consistency, resilience, humility, and countless hours of showing up, even on the tough days

A huge thank you to Professor Ryan for travelling to WestCoast sharing his knowledge throughout the weekend, and for taking the time to award these well deserved belts

Over the last two evenings, Coach Katja had the privilege of teaching two women’s self defence seminars for members of Ceredigion’s Women’s Institute

With 40 ladies attending across the two sessions, we focused on simple, effective techniques that can be used by anyone, regardless of age, size, or experience

A great reminder that Jiu Jitsu isn’t about strength or athleticism, it’s about knowledge, confidence, and technique

“When technique replaces strength, Jiu Jitsu becomes accessible to everyone” 💙🥋

From Monday June 1st we’ll officially be launching our updated timetable

One of the biggest changes is our Kids programme now being broken down into age groups

This allows us to create more focused classes, better progression and the best possible learning environment for every child on the mats

This was another small part of a talk given recently by Coach Katja about why Jiu Jitsu and self defence is so important

At WestCoast we don’t just teach techniques, we teach people how to stay calm in difficult situations

Because when something unexpected happens, we don’t rise to the level of our expectations, we fall to the level of our training

That is why we focus on fundamentals
That is why we teach self defence
That is why we train the way we do

But what most parents don’t expect is the confidence, discipline, resilience and friendships that come with it

We see shy kids become confident
We see nervous kids become brave
We see kids who didn’t believe in themselves start to realise what they’re capable of

That’s why we love teaching kids Jiu Jitsu
