As the dust settles after our annual friendly against our great friends from Craigentinny, I'm sure everyone involved had an enjoyable day.
With three pieces of silverware up for grabs and with Aberlady in custody of these for the last two years, the visitor's were confident that they could take them back up the town.
The bowling kicked off with six rinks playing 17 ends, the rink scores were as follows
Rink 1 - D. French 21 K. McFarlane 13
Rink 2 - W. Dunleavey 19 G. Bold 12
Rink 3 - G. White 17 D. Torrance 11
Rink 4 - C. Penman 13 J. Spalding 12
Rink 5 - Dean French 15 I. Patterson 12
Rink 6 - G. Blair 13 D. Gormley 15
Aberlady 98 Craigentinny 75
With our visitor's smarting after losing the first trophies of the day, they were given a stern talking too from their club president Kenny Watling ( in his unique way ) to get their finger's out !!
The team talk seemed to be working as the visitor's sped into a 4-2 lead after the completion of the one bowl pairs, corner to corner disciplines.
It was Aberlady's turn to regain focus and make the bowl count going into the singles format.
After the first 6 single duals Aberlady had levelled up proceedings at 6-6. It was going to take a massive effort from both set's of players to confirm the destination of the final trophy of the day.
The final 6 single head to head's were all won by the home team to complete a 12-6 victory in the cornerto corner event, cementing another clean sweep of of trophies.
Our visitor's, however, didn't go home empty handed, they did retain the dreaded wooden spoon trophy.
This day is always a highlight on the bowling calendar for both teams and is made even more special down to the friendships made over the year's.
For these day's to run smoothly, it takes a lot of work behind the scenes, the organising, effort and time. I would like personally to thank Moira, Laura, John, Amanda, Irene, Declan, Billy and all the other Club/Team members who assisted in the setting up, clearing up and ensuring that the day was successful.
Great effort guys, it's very much appreciated

Here's to next year's visit up the town to do it all again.
