This time last week I was sat in a field waiting for the kettle to whistle, listening to the birds sing and feeling the sun and soft breeze on my face.
Away camping for the first time in about 15 years ...i thought it would make a change.
It did.
I chilled, I relaxed, I got back to basics. I got rather cold at night, i swam in the sea, enjoyed the stars, I watched the babies get covered in grass stains, I experienced a rollercoaster of emotions ( the joys of grown up children with their children).
I took time for me.
I didn't open my laptop, I ignored my phone (ish).
Nothing broke, nobody died, the world didn't end. Upon returning the office looked the same, the inbox slightly fuller but the world didn't stop.
But I did, just me pausing for a little while. Giving myself permission to be, do what I fancied and to think....just gutted my first visit to the beach, after 10mins it rained on me...i think thats sods law! I just laughed.
I would like to say I'm fully refreshed, I think that's a lie, but I am keen to rest more, to enjoy the birdsong and maybe boil a kettle in the garden just to hear the whistle.
Hope your last couple of weeks have been kind...mine have :)
