A Huge Thank You to Our Incredible Care Team 💙

As the temperatures have soared over the last few days, we just wanted to take a moment to say a heartfelt thank you to every single one of our amazing care workers.

While many of us have been searching for the nearest fan or the coolest spot in the house, you’ve been out and about, travelling from visit to visit, making sure the people we support are safe, comfortable and cared for.

The heat has been relentless, but your kindness, patience and dedication never seem to take a day off. Whether you’ve been climbing what suddenly feels like Mount Everest just to reach someone’s front door, or trying to look presentable after five minutes in the car, you’ve kept smiling and putting others first.

You don’t always see the difference you make, but we do! And so do the people you care for and their families.

Thank you for everything you’ve done during this heatwave, and for everything you do every single day. We’re incredibly proud to have you as part of our team.

Please remember to look after yourselves too. Stay hydrated, take every opportunity to cool down, and know just how appreciated you are.

Each and every one of you are absolute heroes. ✨

Do you know the signs of heatstroke? 🥵 With a weather warning still in place, it’s important to be aware of what to look out for 👇

Signs can include:
• Severe headache
• Confusion
• Rapid breathing
• A very high body temperature
• Hot skin that may stop sweating

⚠️ If someone has signs of heatstroke, call 999 immediately.

EXTREME HEAT WARNING 🥵

With temperatures remaining exceptionally high, we’d like to remind all our care staff to take extra precautions while out supporting clients in the community.

Our elderly and vulnerable clients are particularly at risk during hot weather. Please take a few extra moments during visits to check that they are:

💧 Drinking enough fluids.
* Ask when they last had a drink.
* Encourage regular sips of water throughout the day.
* Ensure a drink is within easy reach before you leave.

🏠 Keeping their home cool
* Close curtains or blinds in rooms exposed to direct sunlight.
* Open windows when it’s cooler outside, where safe to do so.
* Check that fans are working and positioned safely.

👕 Dressed appropriately for the weather
* Encourage lightweight, loose-fitting clothing.
* Suggest removing unnecessary layers.
* Check they have access to a hat if going outdoors.

🍽️ Eating regularly
* Encourage light meals and snacks if they have reduced appetite.
* Check they have enough food and drinks available.

☀️ Avoiding the hottest part of the day
* Discourage unnecessary outdoor activities between 11am and 3pm.
* Encourage them to stay in the coolest part of their home where possible.

⚠️ Watching for signs of heat-related illness
* Dizziness or confusion
* Headaches
* Excessive tiredness
* Nausea
* Unusually hot, dry skin

Just as importantly, please look after yourselves too. Stay hydrated, take breaks when safe and appropriate, wear lightweight clothing, and avoid spending longer than necessary in direct sun between visits.

We also encourage everyone to check in on elderly neighbours, friends, and family members. A quick phone call, message, or visit can make a real difference during periods of extreme heat.

Our carers are out and about whatever the weather, so here’s a quick reminder on staying safe, hydrated, and keeping our clients cool during the heat.
