🏆🏆 Senior Triples and Mixed Pairs Finals 🏆🏆

Tonight saw the last two finals played of the Finals week.

🎯 Senior Triples was played between Gordon Massie, Alfie Garner and Mike Rose against Colin Kirk, Alan Cruickshank and Jim Shea. A bright start saw Jim Shea’s triples come out the blocks well and after 7 ends the score was 8.3. Mike Rose then gained a 2 and then lost the next two ends with pairs each time. A 6 on the 12th end for Jim Shea’s triples put them 18.5 up and they shacked hands after the next end. Congratulations to Colin Kirk, Alan Cruickshank and Jim Shea.

🎯 Mixed Pairs was played between married couple Chloe and Grant Robson against Mags McNulty and Mark Smith. A tight start meant the score after 5 ends was 3.2 in favour of Mark and Mags. The next 5 ends swung in favour of the Robson’s and it was 9.6 to the Robson’s after 10. Mags and Mark gained a single on the next end but then the Robson’s won every end after that and ended up winning 19.7. Congratulations to Chloe and Grant Robson.

Well done to the winners and commiserations to the runners up. Its been a great week of finals and showcased some great bowling.

🏆🏆Senior Handicap Singles 🏆🏆

🎯 Tonight saw another final at the Northern and yet another appearance by Jim Shea who took on Mike Rose in the Senior Handicap Singles. Mike had a 4 shot advantage through the Handicap. Jim picked up two full houses in the first 6 ends and took a 11.8 lead. Jim then had a good run and after 13 ends was 20.11 up. Mike then won the next 5 ends and got the score back to 20.18. Jim then picked a one to win it 21.18.

Congratulations to Jim Shea and yet another trophy and commiserations to Mike Rose.

🏆🏆 Handicap Singles 🏆🏆

🎯 Tonight was the turn of the Handicap Singles between Jim Grant and Jim Shea. Both played each other on Saturday in the Seniors Championship where Jim Shea was victorious. With a 3 shot lead through the Handicap, Jim Grant was hoping for revenge. The game was close at the start with Jim Grant being 10.6 up after 8 ends. Jim Grant then lost the next 5 ends for Jim Shea to take a 13.10 lead. A 2 and 3 for Grant was followed by a full house by Shea to leave the score 17.15 in favour of Jim Shea. Grant then won the next two ends with singles to level it 17 each. Shea then took singles over the next four ends to win 21.17.

Congratulations to Jim Shea on another victory which takes his tally to 4 finals wins so far with another two finals to come this week. Hope you have enough bottles to fill these cups on presentation night Jim. 🍾🏆

🏆🏆 Nominated Triples Final 🏆🏆

🎯 Tonight seen the final of the Nominated Triples. Last years winners Arthur Gault, Grant Robson and Scot Finlayson were taking on Bob Scott, Brian Mathieson and Jim Shea. It was Jim Shea's triple that got off to the better start and were 8.1 up after 6 ends. After 9 ends the score was 10.3 to Jim Shea. A 5 for Scot's team got themselves back into it and after 14 ends Jim was ahead only by one at 13.12. The last end was tight with the shot changing numerous times, but Scot was left with trying to trail the jack with his last bowl to win the game with shot lying against him, but he found the gap between the bowl and jack and lost the game.

Congratulations to the winners Bob Scott, Brian Mathieson and Jim Shea.

🏆🏆 Sunday Final Day Results 🏆🏆

Today saw more Finals played and more trophies presented.

🎯 Gents Championship. Mark Smith who was looking for revenge after losing the Club Championship the previous day was in another final against Ross Stewart. Neither had won the competition previously so a new name was going on the trophy. Mark started with a 2 in the first end but after losing the next two ends including a full house on end 3 it was 5.2 to Ross. They both went on little run of ends and after the 12 end it was all square at 10 each. Mark then never lost another end and after picking a four in the last end he won 21.10. Congratulations to Mark 🏆🥇

🎯 Nominated Pairs final was between Chloe Robson and Jim Shea against Arthur Gault and Scot Finlayson. Arthur and Scot win the first 2 ends but Chloe and Jim picked up the next 2 ends to be ahead 5.4 after 4 ends. Arthur and Scot only won 2 out of the next 7 ends but it was a 3 each time for the score to be 14.10 in favour of Chloe and Jim after 11 ends. Arthur and Scot picked up a 2 at the next end to tighten the lead but Chloe and Jim responded brilliantly to win the remaining ends and winning 21.12. Massive congratulations to Chloe and Jim.

🎯 Club Pairs was a tight game played between Ronnie Patterson and Kevin McKay against Bob Hayles and Mark Mair. After 9 ends it was 8.7 in favour of Ronnie and Kevin. Ronnie and Kevin then managed to get 13.8 up with only 2 ends left and even though Bob and Mark won those two ends they never got enough shots to claw it fully back thus Ronnie and Kevin won 13.11. Congratulations to Ronnie and Kevin 🥇

Massive congratulations to our winners and remember we have more Finals through the week with Nominated Triples being played tomorrow night.

🏆🎯 Finals Day 2026 🎯🏆

A fantastic day of bowling at Northern was completed with a further 4 finals played at 2pm.

🎯 Seniors Championship was played between 2 of the last two Senior Singles Silver Medalists at Scottish National Championships Jim Grant and Jim Shea. A tight start resulted in the score being 8.7 in favour of Jim Shea after 8 ends. Jim Shea then went on a run and never looked back to win 21.10. Congratulations to Jim Shea.

🎯 Vice Presidents was a new competition for members who had never won a singles competition at this club or any club. It was a fantastic game between Sean Angus and Calum Morrison. It was close the whole way with Calum 7.5 up after 8 ends. Sean then went 13.9 up after 16 ends. Calum then went 19.17 up after 25 ends and unfortunately lost a 1 and 3 in next two ends to lose. Congratulations to Sean on winning the Vice Presidents for the first year of its existence.

🎯 Club Triples was played between Ronnie Patterson, Ian Beaton and Mark Smith against Colin Campbell, Alfie Garner and Sandy Anderson. Sandy's team was 7.3 up after 6 ends but Mark's team got themselves back in it and after a few 3's ended up 17.8 up after 13 ends. They seen it out to win 17.10. Congratulations to the winners Ronnie Patterson, Ian Beaton and Mark Smith.

🎯 Senior Pairs was played between Davie Ross and Kevin Mckay against Bob Scott and Alan Blackhall. Kevin's team got off to a flyer and were 12.1 up after 8 ends. Alans's team then got back into and were just 9.13 down after 12 ends. Even though Kevins's team only won one more end they seen it out to win 14.11. Well done to winners Davie Ross and Kevin McKay.

Congrats to all the winners 🏆 A fantastic day of bowling and another three finals tomorrow afternoon at 1pm.

🏆🏆 Club Championship and Ladies Championship 🏆🏆

Congratulations to our winners of our first finals of the finals day.

🎯 Ladies Championship was a cracking match with both Chloe Robson and Kath Graves getting off to a great start with ends swapping all the time. Chloe finally got onto her stride and managed to push through a lead which eventually helped her to a 21.6 victory. Congratulations to Chloe Robson our Ladies Champion of the year and her 5th Championship overall.

🎯 Club Championship was between Mark Smith and our Match Secretary Scot Finlayson. The first few ends were cracking ends with shot changing after almost every end. Mark endeed up picking up a well deserved 4 on end 5 and after 8 ends was 9.4 up. Scot then had a good run to get back to 11.11 after 15 ends. Scot then managed to win the next 4 ends to get a 19.11 lead. A 3 on the next end for Mark made the score 19.14 but Scot managed a 2 at the next end to win 21.14. A fantastic final where both players played some great bowls. Congratulations to Scot on his 3rd Championsip and 2nd in a row.

🎯🏆 Well done to Scot and Chloe and commiserations to Mark and Kath.

Join us on Saturday 29th August for a full day of bowls, presentations and celebrations at Northern Bowling Club.

🏆 11am – Club Championship & Ladies Championship Finals

👏 1.30pm – Presentation recognising our recent success at the Scottish National Championships.

🎯 2pm – Finals for Senior Championship, Vice Presidents, Club Triples & Senior Pairs, followed by presentation of all trophies

🍴 4.30pm onwards – Buffet for players and spectators

🎶 7pm–11pm – DJ Barry playing the tunes!
