Gordonian RFC Welcome to the official page for Gordonian RFC, a rugby union team based in Aberdeen. Arrive, change and be ready to go at 6.30pm.

Gordonians RFC is one of North-East Scotland's leading rugby club's with a long tradition in Scottish leagues and have produced a number of Scottish internationals over the years. Gordonians RFC currently field 2 senior teams, the 1st XV compete the in newly restructured but highly competitive Caledonia Regional League Division 1. The 2nd XV (aka The Jolly Boys) play in the local Caledonia Regional League Division 3 - North East. Training takes place at Countesswells playing fields every Tuesday and Thursday until October when it changes to Monday and Thursday . Please bring trainers in-case weather requires us to use the all weather hockey pitch. The club that has been revitalised recently and is looking to go from strength to strength in the future. As such, we are always delighted to welcome new faces and aim to develop each player's potential through the support and instruction given by our coaching staff. We place a high priority on teamwork and aim to create an environment in which attractive rugby is combined with a real enjoyment of the sport. Debatably one of the biggest names behind the scenes at the club passed a monumental milestone recently.

Donovan Reid (Donny to all) recently celebrated 30 years working at Robert Gordon’s College. For the majority of the time in his role as Head Groundsman at Countesswells. Throughout his time in the role, he has provided the club with invaluable support that we can’t really put into words. I think we can safely say the club would not be where it is without him.

Although he sometimes shows a bit of bark… at his core he is a truly kind hearted man that just wants everyone to have the best experience possible at Countesswells, and how can you not with the quality of the facilities. We couldn’t do this post without appreciating and thanking the person that keeps Donny on the straight and narrow, and that is his better half Marlene.

To mark the occasion the club was delighted to present Donny with a framed shirt, along with a voucher for him and Marlene to enjoy a nice night out.

Thanks again for everything you have done Donny, we think you have a few more years in you yet.

As the season nears, we have our first proper run out tomorrow. We look forward to welcoming Strathmore RFC for the Mike McNaughton Cup. A yearly occasion that never disappoints.

Mike was a tremendous player for both clubs, and we are privileged to remember him with this occasion and long may it continue.

We hope the exam results went well for everyone. If you now find yourself on your way to Aberdeen to study and are looking to join a local rugby club, then look no further!

Costs can be a worry in your first year, so we are pleased to continue to offer free memberships for school leavers.

Many players at the club attend the local universities and colleges and GRFC has a particularly strong relationship with Aberdeen University, having provided coaching support for many seasons.
