Aberdeen Hockey Club Aberdeen Ladies Hockey Club have recently merged with Aberdeen Mens Hockey Club to become Aberdeen Hockey Club!

We are an amateur sports club and are always looking for new members! We play both outdoor and indoor hockey and play in the North District Leagues. Training is on Wednesday Evenings from 19:30 - 21:00 at Rubislaw hockey pitch. Players of all levels are welcome to come along, whether it's to get back into hockey or to try out a new sport!

After the women’s game, our Men’s 1s team were up , hosting Granite City Wanderers 3s at Rubislaw. A tidy game with AHC dominating the field, resulting in a high scoring win for the guys and barely a touch for Callum Smith!

The September sun was beating down on Rubislaw, for much of the ladies match against Aberdeen Grammar 1s this afternoon. A busy and well fought game between the two sides, with lots of potential and action. AHC came back from last week’s game with a renewed focus and more solid plays. Ruth and the defence line worked tirelessly to keep the Grammar goal chances to a minimum and maintained a clean start, until a short corner was awarded in the closing minutes of the first quarter. An undeniably impressive straight strike from Grammar, shot directly past AHC defenders and goalie, 1-0.
Second and third quarters saw a more even game with AHC driving the ball up into the opposing side, where several attempts were made to infiltrate the Grammar defence. Grammar were feeling the pressure but never succumbed to the AHC attacks. Grammar had more opportunities back in the other end but the AHC defence balanced the scales with good blocking and redistribution. No further scores until the last quarter, where AHC were beginning to tire and a few botched 16s set up plenty of short corners for Grammar. Right up to the dying minute the scoreline remained the same, until a penalty flick was awarded and gave the whites one more scoring chance. Ruth stepped up and managed a decent touch of the ball but sadly the ball had a tad more power to it, finding the net.
Final score: AGSFP 1s 2-0 AHC.

Captain Emily was pleased with the shift by everyone “Today was another tough game. The defence (Lara and Chloe B included) put a massive shift in today and really made it difficult for Grammar, with another absolutely outstanding performance from Ruth! Really seeing improvement in our defensive play from last week, just some tweaks to be made in midfield and forward so that we can make the most of the breaks that we get.”

This morning saw our mens 2s team take on Aberdeen Grammar SFP, at Rubislaw. A valiant effort, especially for some of our youngsters after moving up from our junior section to join the big boys in the men’s league.

Grammar brought a very strong team, many who were recognised from last season, same team with a different flavour. It almost seemed bit similar to our ladies yesterday, the opposition started off with very strong advances, plaguing the Aberdeen defence with relentless attacks, before the boys in blue could set themselves up, resulting in many short corners. Amazing work from Cammy and the back line fended off cracking shots on goal, with strong clear outs and good runs from the midsection. Unfortunately our forward line came head to head with a fortified Grammar defence and were unable to breakthrough. Grammar quickly recycled and set up some good scores before the half time whistle. It was in the second half when a brilliant ball from the back, found its way to young Euan, where he proved instrumental to setting up John to deliver a well deserved goal. Celebrations were short lived as Grammar retaliated with more well coordinated plays and PCs, despite best efforts from AHC the game finished up with a final score AHC 1-4 AGSFP.

Captain Abd praised the 2s team “Tough first game but I’m really proud of everyone’s effort - we all gave it 110%. We really settled into later half of the game. Room for improvement in lots of areas but that’s only a good thing - the only way is up for us! “

It was the ladies turn later on in the afternoon, as they played their first game since promotion to Division 1 with a cracking game of hockey against Bon Accord MBC 1s at Rubislaw.

It was a swift reminder for many of the experienced players of the higher level, and BAMBC were quick to re-introduce them to it! A spait of attacks in the first quarter left the AHC ladies in a spin and 3 goals were conceded in quick succession. By the second quarter, the ladies readjusted their positions and were able to make their own mark with a sneaky touch from Daniela into the back of the net! Third quarter brought some great plays from both teams but 2 more scores were added for the whites. Final quarter saw both teams winding down, Nic clawed back another score before the last whistle.

Captain Emily was very positive about the game “It was a really solid effort for our first match of the season in a new division. The fact that we managed to get two goals against a very strong Bon Accord team shows how well we are playing as a team! We have some things to work on going forward but I definitely see some wins in our future!”

Our men’s 1sts team met with Moray HC, for the first game of the new season at ASV early this afternoon. Men’s 1s captain Jack was very pleased with the results and the team effort:

“Excellent opener to the season from the 1s. From going 1-0 down the lads showed great courage and hard work to come back and win.

The last quarter was very hard work going down to 10 players with injury’s but eventually we pulled through. A new look side with several regulars missing I could not be prouder of the gents today.

Special mention to Ben McK for man of the match performance, tireless work rate all game!”

Scottish Hockey Awards Night 2026. We were so very grateful to be nominated for the Inclusion Award🫶🏻….sadly not for us this time but congratulations to Highland Hockey . A fine night in Tynecastle catching up with the lovely North players, sharing stories with the Highland crew and bumping into the stunning Hannah Moore, who was nominated for her fabulous work in Moray Hockey Club 👏. Bow ties and ball gowns away….back to business tomorrow 🏑🏑🏑
