New 2027 vivid coil ready for the first .downhill of the year.

Before the customer picked up their new shock it was stripped down, checked over, rebuilt and torqued to spec. Shock was vacuum bled, bleed was checked and then charged with nitrogen

Initial impressions are these are the most supple rockshox shock I’ve ever felt even without touchdown which they have removed. This is due to the new base valve and associated lower IFP pressures in the latest vivid. The main piston is also different to the previous vivid and super deluxe.

A fox 32rlc came in with a damaged rebound assembly. Unfortunately the part is discontinued

Thankfully a fox 34 step cast has an identical assembly internally but with a different way of attaching the rebound k**b.

Although it fits and can be adjusted using available rebound k**bs, it’s far from perfect as it sticks out much further and is fairly fragile as is normally protected by the lowers.

We drew up and 3d printed a replacement k**b which is much lower profile and sits round the foot nut protecting the rebound assembly.

Ever wondered what the spring rate actually is on your spring and why it useful?

For example at 500lb/in a 5% variation of spring rate can put you at 475 or 525, which is the next spring rate in many brands. It could be why making a change of 25lb/in feels identical.

We can test your springs and dial in your bike

Excited to announce that Alta Suspension is now an official MTB service centre. It’s an honour to be chosen to do this

The coil shock in particular we have spent a lot of riding time on, including the first shocks that only came on the 2014 Specialized Demo 8. It’s a fantastic shock and are incredibly reliable. Looking forward to get some more swedish gold on my bikes.

Along side the servicing and tuning, we can provide both shocks and forks complete with custom tuning out the box for each individual.

More details to follow.

Bushing replacement on a set of lyriks, it’s not a part Rockshox sell but we have bushings to solve this

1-Bushings measured with a 3 point micrometer, external diameter of stanchions also measured with a micrometer

2-Upper bushings are pulled and lower bushing depth measured. Lower bushings then pulled

3- New bushings ready to be installed

4-New bushings installed at the same depth as the original bushings

5- Bushings burnished using the burnishing tool, it’s an essential part of installing new bushings. Ensures correct size, they are perfectly cylindrical and aligned in the lowers.

6- New bushings, minimal friction and no play.

This X2 would only leak oil only while riding.

The shock was put on the dyno and oil was as leaking between the eyelet and the damper body. Once the shock was stripped down a crack in the damper body was found. A new damper body fitted, shock rebuilt, bled and filled with nitrogen. Shock ran on dyno again and no leaks observed.

This is much more common on trunnion mounted shocks due to the high forces placed on the shock due to the rigid nature of the mounting.

1-Shock back together
2-Shock leaking oil
3-Crack in damper body where the threads are cut
4- No leaks

A DHX2 getting a podium piston kit. Less harshness and tuned to each rider. Then all put back together with a service kit and serviced with the same standards we do all shocks.

1- Shock all done
2- Tune is decided for both base valve and main piston
3-VVC set on the main piston for new shim stack, any tuning of this shock requires this to be done and we do it for each shock we service.
4-Base valve and main piston with new pistons
5-Shock is vacuum bled, ensures consistency of the bleed and twin tube shocks are difficult to bleed by hand
6-Air being removed during bleeding
7-Charged with nitrogen
8-Bushings are sized, similar process we do for forks, reduces friction and makes the shocks more supple
9-Dyno tested and compression and rebound settings applied for customer so it’s ready to fit to the bike and ride.

What’s the difference between the Charger 3 and 3.1 swipe to see

1-Says 3.1 on the dial and a slightly thicker low speed compression line.
2-Larger flow through low speed compression assembly
3-Higher flow compression piston
4&5 A spring instead of rubber deforming to control the compression check and mid valve check valves giving better response and flow.
6-Larger hsc pyramid to give larger adjuster range.
7-New higher rate IFP spring to keep the damper under control with increased oil flow

What does this mean, the main change is the damper now has more adjustment range while giving you a more supple ride.

We have Charger 3 to Charger 3.1 upgrade kits in stock which cost £72 on top of the service. We can also further dial in the damper with different rebound and compression tunes, depending on riding style, travel and rider weight.

Excited to get our hands on the Telum Shock

This shock promises to be the ultimate shock on the mountain bike market

It’s highly tunable, packed with all the features you’d want.

External adjustments include LSC, HSC, LSR and HBO. Don’t be worried about all the adjustment as the shock tune and settings are calculated and applied to the shock before it gets into the riders hands and gives an incredibly good baseline to work off

First ride impressions were very good, looking forward to some more in depth testing
