# # Catch Report Baleine – 29th May till 31st May

Despite the carp spawning at the end of the previous week and not expecting many bites, the lads had a very successful session on Baleine.

We welcomed a full house of 14 anglers to the lake, and they certainly made the most of their time here. With temperatures soaring and even taking a day off to enjoy some French kayaking, they still managed to put together an impressive catch report.

By the end of the session they had landed 23 carp, including:

* 1 fish over 60lb
* 4 fish over 50lb
* 6 fish over 40lb

The biggest carp of the week tipped the scales at an impressive 64lb.

Most importantly, the lads had a fantastic time, fished hard, and created plenty of memories. We have no doubt we'll be seeing them back again in the future.

The lakes are now closed for fishing for the next 2–3 weeks while we carry out maintenance and improvement work. The carp deserve a well-earned rest after the spawning period, and we'll be back soon with a work report and updates from around the fishery.

# # Catch Report Saussaie – 23rd May till 30th May

It was a hot one this week on Saussaie.

With the carp having finally finished spawning, they were clearly in recovery mode and proving very difficult to catch. To be honest, everyone was feeling it. Temperatures climbed to an incredible 36°C during the week, making it more about surviving the heat than chasing bites at times.

Nevertheless, the lads thoroughly enjoyed their time on the lake and kept working hard despite the challenging conditions.

In the end, 6 carp found their way onto the bank, with the biggest weighing in at 50lb 4oz. More importantly, a number of personal bests were broken, leaving a few of the lads absolutely over the moon with their results.

The fishing may have been tough, but great company, new PBs, and time on the bank made it another memorable week at Saussaie.

# # Catch Report Baleine – 17/5 till 24/5

What a good week of fishing it was on Baleine.

With temperatures rising above 30 degrees during the week, the carp were clearly getting ready to finally finish spawning. Charley’s group had done really well last year, so they arrived buzzing and ready to get started again.

There were only 6 anglers fishing, but every single one of them was a quality angler with plenty of big fish experience from both the UK and Europe. I was really curious to see how they would get on this time around.

And fair play to the lads… they absolutely worked hard for them.

By the end of the week they managed an incredible:

* 39 carp landed
* 7 fish over 40lb
* 8 fish over 50lb
* Including a remarkable new 70lb 8oz mirror — another new 70 for Baleine

The lads absolutely smashed it once again.

The carp actually started spawning as the group were leaving, so hopefully it doesn’t cause too many problems for the new anglers arriving this week.

A top group of respectful people as always, and we’d love to welcome them back onto the lake again in the future.

# # Catch Report Saussaie – 16th till 23rd May

The lads had a really tough week of fishing on Saussaie this week. The fish just really weren’t having it.

There were loads of naturals and hatches coming through, with fry filling the lake and the carp clearly still looking towards spawning themselves. With so much natural food available, the carp had plenty to eat instead of our bait and hooks.

Despite the difficult conditions, 4 fish still found their way onto the bank:

* 36lb
* “The Two Tone” at 62lb 8oz
* 40lb
* Another 36lb

On top of everything, the temperatures suddenly climbed to over 30 degrees, meaning both the anglers and the fish needed time to adjust to the conditions.

For the health of the carp, we’re hoping they properly finish spawning soon so we can finally leave this tricky stage of nature behind and look forward to more consistent fishing again.

Massive respect to the lads for sticking it out through a very challenging week and keeping spirits high throughout.

**Extra Catch Report – Baleine**

We can’t wait any longer to put up the brace of 70lb+ fish from Baleine. What a year it’s been already — and it has only just begun.

We were still buzzing from last week when, just a few hours ago, we got another call. One of the anglers, Scott, had a new 70.8lb giant in the sling at Baleine, fishing from Swim 11.

This swim is often overlooked, but Scott is absolutely smashing it. A top angler through and through, he managed to land the biggest mirror in the lake, now grown to an incredible 70.8lb. That makes it the third new 70lb+ carp from the fishery this year alone.

Keep an eye out for this week’s catch report — it’s going to be a special one.

# # Catch Report Baleine – 10/5 till 17/5

What a week it was on Baleine.

After the difficult fishing over the previous weeks and the temperatures dropping hard again at night — back down to 2 degrees — the week started off a little rusty. But consistency, strong angling skills, good listening, and a lot of respect between the anglers and towards the fishery turned this into one of the best catch reports of the year.

There was loads of movement from the anglers throughout the week, with plenty of stalking and moving swims during the day to stay on the fish. Fair play to everyone involved because all the effort truly paid off.

I even managed to get the rods out myself and we all went full focus hunting for carp.

And the result? PBs absolutely smashed everywhere.

Huge congratulations to:

* Carol with a stunning 50lb common and a new PB
* Alex’s dad for banking “The Dinosaur” again at 62lb 13oz — another PB smashed
* Ryan with a new PB common of 50lb 8oz
* Ryan again with another new PB at 53lb 4oz
* Jordan who first smashed his PB with a 51lb 4oz mirror and then, only 2 hours later, landed the 27th 60 from the lake at 60lb 2oz — absolutely obliterating his PB again

And right after that I managed to bank the massive 74lb 9oz common myself, breaking all records:

* Biggest fish in Baleine
* Biggest fish across both lakes

Apologies if I missed anyone, but I believe Liam and Alex may also have beaten PBs during the week too.

Massive shout out to every single angler this week. It truly shows what effort, teamwork, respect, and proper angling can achieve on Baleine 🫵🏻

# # Catch Report Saussaie – 9/5 till 16/5

We had an amazing group on Saussaie this week. Although the fishing was hard after a heavy pre-spawning week beforehand, the lads kept spirits high from start to finish.

John was catering all week, and as respectful as the group were towards us and the fishery, they certainly enjoyed taking the mick out of each other with plenty of laughs along the way.

In the end, the group landed 7 fish, apart from one unlucky angler who unfortunately blanked this time around. They also lost 5 bites during the week, proving just how tricky the fishing really was.

Despite the conditions, some incredible fish were banked:

* 1 mirror over 40lb
* 1 stunning 57lb 4oz mirror
* And the fish of the week — an incredible 64lb 3oz mirror

The guys even gave the big girl a name: **“The Quine”**, thanks to a distinctive scale on the top of her head.

Even though the lake fished hard, the lads had an unforgettable week and told us they will definitely be back for a rematch. We’d love to welcome them back onto the lake.

# # Catch Report Baleine – 3/5 till 10/5

We had a hard week of fishing on Baleine last week. The guys really struggled to get bites, but still managed to land 15 carp in total.

The carp in Baleine seemed to be having a bit of a go at pre-spawning, which made the fishing difficult. Hopefully they finish soon, as it’s been a very unusual year so far.

Despite the tough conditions, there were still some incredible fish caught:

* 2 carp over 50lb, up to 59lb 12oz
* 3 carp over 40lb, with the biggest at 46lb 6oz

A challenging week, but some very rewarding results for the anglers who stayed patient.
