NBA Finals: Lakers' LeBron James savours fourth title, calls it 'one of the greatest accomplishments'.

James was named the 2020 NBA Finals MVP for leading the Los Angeles Lakers to their first championship in a decade and winning the fourth title of his career with a 106-93 victory over the Miami Heat in Game 6. James, who previously won Finals MVP in 2012 and '13 with the Heat and in 2016 with the Cleveland Cavaliers, is the first player in NBA history to win the award with three different franchises.

Labo Des Sols in collaboration with Track Master is part of the elite network of accredited laboratories around the world with the requisite experience and expertise to “interpret” the results and observations made on site correctly. This experience and expertise help to protect the interests of all the parties involved, including the manufacturer of the synthetic surfacing system, the installer, the main contractor, the designer, the owner and the athletes who will use the facility.
We had a great time testing the facility at Monaco testing the harmony between the installation and IAAF standard of field certification and provide our clients with performance data that can aid them to achieve a facility that offers a safe comfortable place to play and compete.

Field maintenance
The depth of the infill within the synthetic turf carpet pile is carefully determined by the manufacturer; this normally allows about 15 – 20mm of the carpet pile to protrude above the infill. During use the infill can be dispersed to the margins of the field and it is particularly important that the dispersed infill is regularly returned to the higher use areas of the field. This is easily achieved through regular brushing and drag matting of the field. The best type of brush or drag mat to be used will depend on the recommendations of the synthetic turf surface manufacturer and their
Advice should always be followed to ensure no damage to the carpet occurs, or their warranty is not violated through the use of inappropriate equipment.

Minimising infill migration into the environment through good field design and operation

Synthetic turf sports surfaces provide safe, durable playing areas that can sustain high levels of use 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year.

The synthetic turf industry is committing significant resources to developing sustainable surfaces including the use of organic infills and surfaces without infill, that will enable a cradle to cradle approach for the manufacturing and recycling of the surfaces. During the use of the surfaces, however, it is the owner or operator of the sports field surface that has a key role to play in ensuring the surfaces do not adversely affect the environment.

The key stage to initial planning is Investigation.
The purpose of this phase is to investigate and understand all the issues. Communication between client and consultant is vital along with a thorough inspection of the site or surface, including laboratory tests. Once the facts are established, a feasibility study will present the findings. The report will identify the problem, the solution and outline industrial costs.

For a synthetic turf sports field to have the desired properties, the infill plays a key role. Performance infill ensures that the players' shoes have a good grip and can also reduce the strain on muscles and joints by acting as a cushion along with maximising sliding characteristics. The infill layer has various options and each infill has its specific characteristics.
The infill base is often formed by a sand stabilization layer in combination with a granulate that adds additional sport-technical properties to the system. When choosing your infill check for available quality reports for the infill; a poor-quality infill can (in the long-term) cause major problems in the field.

For a synthetic turf sports field to have the desired properties, the infill plays a key role by
Retaining the pile length,verticality and fibre-strength of the carpet
providing cushioning and shock absorption,
Maintaining the rotational resistance on athletes foot within acceptable standards,
Controlling the impact and athletes comfort in terms of foot friction, heat and while retaining the properties of natural grass-like colour, odour, etc. as similar as possible.

Artificial playing surfaces provide flexibility in many ways, in addition to the superior playing surface and enhanced aesthetics associated with well-laid surface products, schools and institutions benefit from long-term cost-savings as well.
Unlike traditional hard courts, the multi-sports’ facility does not have to be resurfaced every two to three years, with the new synthetic surface only needing upgrading every 8 to 10 years. It also allows schools to accommodate multiple sporting codes while saving on space.
In addition to costs saved on maintenance, the pitch requires minimum watering, with the increased water conservation awareness this becomes a welcome reality for many schools and institutions.
