Number of anglers: 8
Total number of Carp: 5
Biggest fish: Jordan with 2,3,4 at 44lb

WOW! The hottest week of the year with some ridiculous temperatures, which clearly affected the fish.
With a daytime high of 52 degrees and an incredible 33 degrees at midnight early in the week, the fishing was very slow.

There were chances though, generally later in the week but with a few lost, the end total of the week was just 5 fish.
Best of the week, was Jordan, fishing Alcatraz who had a 30 early on but a last minute run on Saturday morning produced the fine looking '2,3,4' at a good post spawning weight of 44lb and a new PB!

Sam next door in Pole, lost his fish after a brief battle but was rewarded after sticking to it and banking a 28lb fish on the Friday.

Both Pete & Michael had lost a fish each in the week but Michael saved a blank when casting to some showing fish and banked a very pretty common of 32lb.

Last but not least, Fish the bailiff snared a small 20+ from the tree line. Mainline New Grange scoring here, for most of the lads actually.

Now the weathers due too break, we can crack on and fish instead of just sit there melting.

Were getting in to the 'big fish' months and I’m certain some HUGE fish will soon start to see the bank, just how big the Giant will be is a guess but having evaded capture for 14 months now, I’m hoping to see him banked around the 84-85lb mark. Fingers crossed.

Be safe, be lucky.

Date: 11th August 2012

Number of anglers: 8
Total number of Carp: 12
Biggest fish: Steve Broad with Pips at 53.08lb

A strange week with fish showing well in areas, but just not being caught. Feeding over baited areas but just not strong enough to slip up it would seem.

Kyle in Pole had fish over him very strong early in the week but he eventually got to grips with them and nabbed a couple. Slightly tougher than he thought it would be? But you can’t keep a good guy down and catch em he did.
James, out on Alcatraz had a succession of morning bites, 09:30 on the dot with fish most days, weirdly, nothing huge, mainly 20s & 30s. Productive never the less

Ayden snared a stunning mid 30 common from the Beach, his only fish but a stunner.

Steve in Co's got to grips with them from the off, catching 4 fish, the biggest of the week in the form of 'Pips' slightly down, now spawned out at 53.08lb. Quite a difficult fish, Pips, to catch. I’m hoping for big things with this fish, as she has a considerable frame on her. One to watch out for

For the rest of the guys, it was a blank for the week, tough fishing, watching other anglers catching, whilst all generally fishing the same method but the fish here are very testing and you have to be on top of your game to succeed.

Week in week out, with a full compliment of 10 guys fishing for them, the fish are under immense pressure and you have to do everything right to be successful here. Nicking a fish here and there is manageable for most but multiple captures, that’s something harder, and many simply don’t manage it, even with fish in front of them.

Some would say it’s a difficult lake, but surely that’s part of the excitement and draw to fish here? We see what works and what doesn’t, each and every week, yet very few anglers ask us for our opinion of what is likely to happen during their week? We’re here to help, please don’t forget that, we want you to catch so ask us.

I’m looking forward to the first clients for our new lake, the Road lake next week. A recent nights fishing proved exciting with a multiple catch through the one night we fished. With fish everywhere, location was simple, and the fishing frantic, too frantic for the busy day ahead so, a flurry of action saw us reel the rods in for the night so we could get some sleep but showing fish over the area made sleeping difficult.

Its shaping up to be a very prolific water and Ill keep you all informed of just how many fish our first clients will catch after a full weeks fishing next week.

Until then, be safe, be lucky.

Danny

Total number of Carp: 13
Biggest fish: Steve the Fish with a brace of 50s

First fish of the week fell to Al, this week, who had travelled all the way from China to fish! Fishing Oblivion with his Brother Dan, he banked a lovely scaly 27lb+ mirror. A mix of Cell and New Grange making its mark.

Thram in Cos, from Belgium, used similar tactics and also banked a upper 20lb mirror.

Fish the Bailiff, sneaked into 'stink' and got straight into the action with a 20 & a 30 mirror, both on the incredible New Grange.

We will now only be stocking this brilliant bait, as over the last few weeks - months, its been out fishing Cell, so its time to make the jump, finally. I’m certain it’ll have the same devastating fish catching record as Cell.

We generally advocate staying in your swim and working your areas. 99% of the time it works, and works well.
But, Nick, originally in the 'Tree line' made the move into Big Southerly and reaped the rewards.

After a slow start to the week, Nick bagged the VERY impressive Northern Scaly and an incredible 50lb, its first time over 50!

Not content with that, he also had a lovely 38lb fish. Tom, popped round to help with the photos and another run saw Tom forced to take control, and he promptly landed 'Star burst'@ 42lb+ a PB for Tom along with Nicks new PB with Northern scaly!

At the same time, Steve the fish, was also making his mark on the week. A brace of 50s! He banked, Bearded lady AGAIN, slightly up in weight at 51.08lb along with Roberts fish at 55lb! He also added a great looking 38lb mirror.

Nick also snared an impressive 38lb fish the next morning as well, as did Fish, banking a 29lb and a 42lb mirror. The mirror being 'the Snags linear' looking very impressive after the recent spawning activities.

Several of the lads had runs, which did not convert to banked fish unfortunately, so the week ended with 13 fish, 3 of which were 50+

Cant be long until some of the A team make an appearance, just how big the Giant will be is a guess but as soon as he’s in the net, your be the first to know!

Be safe, be lucky.

Total number of Carp: 10
Biggest fish: Nick the Greek with the Freak at 53lb

The Vale bait boys returned this week.

The last time they visited, Dave’s bait really got our fish going and this week was to be no different. Great bait is great bait!

The week started really well then ridiculously high daytime temps at the end of the week slowed the result dramatically, unfortunately.

However, Nick in Alamo started well with the very impressive ' Freak' @ 53+ a truly stunning fish. Nick added a smaller fish in the week.

Steve in Alcatraz, fishing the plateau managed 3 fish topped by 39lb+

Dave even managed to get his rods in and promptly banked a fish. I’m sure if Dave actually fished hard throughout the week, he'd amass quite a tally but he hardly has his rods out!
Craig in the Beach banked 'the Giggler' @ 47.08lb one of our up and coming fish. I predict big things for this fish, has the frame to grow!

Steve in Oblivion lost a couple due to w**d but then got to grips with everything and banked a 28+common.

Ade, fishing Big Southerly, kept an eye on Scotties and when the time was right made the move and banked a solid looking 30+ mirror. Good skills there.

Last but not least, was Lee in Stink. A great swim but difficult to work out at times with numbers of fish travelling through but his Trigga - LPX combo managed to snare a stunningly long 41.08lb common. A good result ground out of a difficult week in Stink.

The super high temps from mid week were due to break with a nice little low moving in on Friday night giving the guys hope of some action...................but, that nice little low was a super powerful weather front which, locally, destroyed many a tree giving the lads some action..........not from fish but desperately hanging on for dear life which totally ruined any chance of a last gasp fish or three!

A great week socially. Great lads, who I look forward to seeing again.

Be safe, be lucky,

Dan

Biggest fish: Spring scale for Dan in Alamo
Another decent week with fish really feeding well on bottom baits now.

What a week Karl Dodd had, breaking his PB 5 times on the bounce! Fishing with Premier baits in Stink, Karl baited steadily with heavy amounts of bait and fished well. Starting with a mid twenty common to get the ball rolling, he went on to catch 2 x 20s, 3 x 30s to 38+ and topped this incredible week off with his new high, a 41.09lb mirror! Unbelievable week for Karl!

Phil Gibson, fishing in Oblivion he had an early start but continued throughout the week, banking 5 fish. Topped with 2 x 40z to 46+ and the impressive 'two time' @ 53lb
Mark, who started in Stock pond, saw fish and moved onto them and managed a mid twenty common, a result in tough circumstances.

Fish, the bailiff managed to nab a couple as well, from Big southerly taking a lovely 38 and the magnificent 'Bearded Lady' her first time over 50lb as well!

Nick & Craig, tried something a little different and used Vitalin, knowing it catches well for them at home, they hoped it would work here but unfortunately, it didn’t. They fished well though, just a small mistake in bait choice stopping them catching.

Nick & Dan in Alamo also got in on the action. Nick taking several great fish topped by a new PB common of 44lb, one of a hand full of 40+ commons in recent weeks with Nicks a particularly nice specimen.

Dan, on his last trip hang it out until the end to nab a few and this week was the same, Friday night taking a very special fish, the stunning 'Spring scaly' @ a huge 55.12lb Not many prettier fish I’m sure your agree!

Hopefully, we’ll see several weeks like this in the coming months, loads of fish and loads of PBs.

Be safe, be lucky.

Dan
