Congratulations to the French Sea Rescue Services (SNSM) for this rescue! 👏
A 63 yo man was out kayaking with a group when he became isolated and fell in the water, unable to get back on board his boat alone.

The SNSM, the police station as well as the civil security actively looked for him:

"We tried to locate him by putting all our canoeists around the gangway with binoculars, says the president of the station of Arzon - Port-Navalo, Dominique Samuel.
We also had our thermal camera, with a range of 800 meters. Very quickly, the helicopter of the police station told us they had spotted him. They guided us and we reached him within minutes."

➝ Whether you go out alone or in a group, consider equipping yourself with a DIAL (or any other alert beacon) so you can be more easily geolocalized and rescued if a problem occurs.

Let's speak about waterproof! 💦

DIAL is a waterproof beacon but what does it mean exactly ?
After a lot of prototypes tests in swimming pool with the team DIAL, the beacon successfully completed certified watertightness tests! 🏄

➡️ In motion: IPX6 (protection against powerful jets of water from all directions (with a 12.5 mm lance nozzle, distance 2.5 m to 3 m, flow rate 100 liters / min ± 5%))

➡️ Immersion: IPX8 (waterproof to 20 m for 4 hours)

The "DIAL" application allows you to add up to 3 emergency contacts.
➡️ The emergency contact can receive, qualify and share key information with the rescue teams, such as the location of the DIAL user.

Why is it important to equip yourself with a an alert-sending GPS wristband during your outdoor activities? ☀️ 🌊

An article written by the French media "France TV info":
a windsurfer was rescued by the French Sea Rescue Services (SNSM) thanks to its GPS alert system.

Here is what Philippe Boudet, head of the SNSM station in Noumea, says about it:
"The SNSM was called (...) after a member of the windsurfing club sent an alert from his beacon. We set sail immediately, following the GPS position. (...) It is an experienced person (...) who found himself with severe cramps and could no longer hold his sail. He landed on his board, let himself drift and activated his emergency beacon. This allows us to locate the person right away. (...) Having a beacon allows us to limit the search area from this point. (...) Obviously, we save time".

Paddleboarders, DIAL is with you all year round! 🏄
Brave the cold, put on your wetsuit and continue paddling in winter, far away from the summer crowds.

Here are a few safety tips to keep the fun going despite the temperatures:

✔️ make sure you check the weather conditions before you go out
✔️ take a waterproof bag, a towel and windbreaker, and a set of dry clothes
✔️ don't get caught in the dark!
✔️ and of course, tell your friends, family and DIAL emergency contacts about your outing, give them your route and check that your DIAL beacon is connected to their DIAL by SNSM app 😉
