Not ready to buy in France? Rent first.

Renting gives you the freedom to explore a city or neighborhood and to discover what you really want before committing to a home of your own.

And now, there’s an added financial advantage: If you hire us to find your rental, then come back to us within two years to help with a home purchase, we’ll substantially reduce our property search fee, more than offsetting the cost of your rental search!

If I had a euro for every time someone asked me, “Should I rent or should I buy in France?” I could probably buy another apartment! It is one of…

FROM PARIS TO TOUR…AND MORE

We’re hitting the road on a reconnaissance mission to Tours, Angers and Amboise to find out if this part of the Loire Valley could be an appealing alternative for Americans looking to live, retire or own a second home in France

Plus, there’s good news about an old favorite: the Bazar de l’Hôtel de Ville may be making a comeback thanks to new owners who are no strangers to the “old” BHV.

And finally, an unexpected dinner invitation introduced me to a fascinating new circle of Americans in Paris.

People, places and a few surprises along the way, in this week’s Nouvellettre®.

Have you ever been invited to dinner randomly by someone you have never met, have never known, with other diners whom you have never met, nor never known? I hadn’t,…

If you’ve seen me on House Hunters International, you know I often say, “It’s Paris. You don’t come here for the weather.” So why DO we come?

In this week’s Nouvellettre®, I share what drew me to Paris 30+ years ago, what keeps people coming from all over the world…and the one big reason underneath it all.

📣So, tell me: What do you hope Paris will bring to your life? 👇

France is coming back to life after summer vacation. That “back-to-life” is what the French call La Rentrée. The term comes from the French verb rentrer—literally “to return” or “to…

📊 THE NUMBERS ARE IN: FRENCH PROPERTY MARKET IS SHIFTING.

Sales are picking up, but prices aren’t following. And that’s changing the game for buyers and sellers alike.

🔑 For buyers, the market is shifting in your favor
-Prices are stabilizing
-Negotiation is back

🏷️ But sellers need to pay attention, too:
-Buyers are becoming pickier; overpriced properties can sit
-Property condition and energy ratings matter more now

🔎 The national numbers only tell part of the story. For Paris and some of France’s most desirable coastal markets, things could look different.

👉 In this week’s French Property Insider, we break down what this market means for you.

☀️ JOIN ME FOR ONE LAST HURRAH BEFORE ‘LA RENTRÉE’

Summer is winding down and France is preparing to go back to business. But first, one last escape to Corsica for a *real* vacation with friends.

I share my glorious week of sun, sea, food and friendship:
🏖️ Floating away our cares in the Mediterranean
🍽️ Eating our way around the island
🏘️ Getting lost in La Balagne’s hilltop villages

Come along for one last taste of summer before “La Rentrée” begins. In this week’s Nouvellettre®

Fair warning: This is a long Nouvellettre® because I’ve spent the past week soaking up the sun on my favorite island: Corsica. This was my ninth or tenth trip to…

The French country house is making a comeback.
After two difficult years, buyers are returning to the French countryside. Sales jumped 15% in 2025, prices are rising again, and younger buyers are entering the market. International buyers remain an important factor, too.

🏡 Average country house price in France are €210,000, but locaton makes an enormous difference:

🌊 Alpes-Maritimes: €587,000
🌿 Creuse: just €80,000
🚆 Areas with easier access to cities and transportation are seeing some of the strongest activity

This issue of French Property Insider looks at what’s driving the comeback, where the market is strongest, and what it means if your dream of France extends beyond Paris and Nice.
