Chelsea fans stood by Marc Cucurella when things were difficult. They backed him when people called him a flop. They defended him when rival fans mocked him. They supported him until he became one of the best players in the team.
So for him to now come out and say that joining Real Madrid is a bigger step? That’s disappointing. Very disappointing.
Nobody is denying the size of Real Madrid. They are one of the biggest clubs in football history. But there is a way to leave a club, and there is a way to speak about a club that helped rebuild your career.
What bothers me is the timing. Chelsea fans spent years supporting him, and now it sounds like he’s talking as if Chelsea was just a temporary stop before the ‘real destination’. If I’m a Chelsea supporter, I feel insulted by that.
The club gave him a platform. The fans gave him confidence. His teammates stood by him. Then the moment Real Madrid call, suddenly we’re hearing about bigger steps and bigger ambitions?
For me, that’s not respect. That’s forgetting who helped you get back to the top.
Chelsea fans will decide how they feel about him after these comments, but if they are angry, I completely understand it. Because when a fanbase gives you everything, the least they deserve is respect on your way out.”
