WRITING my book!
This is probably a good time to tell you why I’ve been missing in action BECAUSE I’m finally on my way to doing the thing I’ve been dreaming of for a while now. is going to be in the writing works! All this week I’m going to be in creative writing, thinking, breathing at The New School . Yes, it feels magical, surreal, something from a parallel lifetime that I wanted to have in Paris.
I will be a writer. Wait, I am a writer!

I’ve been wanting to write this book, but there wasn’t a suitable community or teacher for me here in Paris. I considered moving to London temporarily, away from my family and work.

Until, this incredibly gifted teacher from The New School, New York posted that there was a program in Paris, she would be teaching. The first year of such a program.

One thing led to so many serendipitous unicorns, comets and unbelievable moments until I was accepted into the above magical program of creative wizardry.

I’m here, in her class soaking in Mira’s generous genius, humming with the creativity of a small brilliant, diverse group of authors. Our conversations are pure gold.

Dreams do come true my friends, hold onto them!

What is a *principled negotiation* you might ask? Tomorrow I teach an exciting workshop on Principled Negotiations from the Harvard Program on Negotiations at HEC Paris Executive Education executive programs.
I thought it I'd check in with negotiation experts to see what they have to share. Ning-Ly Seng, Partner at Peltier Juvigny Marpeau & Associés, mentor and negotiation expert says this:

1. Limit the unknown, do your homework. Anything you don't know in a negotiation is a potential problem for you, so make it a point to learn everything you can about the other party's background and intentions. More importantly, take the time to learn about yourself and your client's needs before you start.

2. You cannot win everything or every point in a negotiation. Especially if the relationship matters for the long term. Learn to find mutual gains. Carefully select what you really want to win, be prepared to make concessions on what is of prime importance to the other party.

3. As a woman you are sometimes underestimated in a negotiation. Which is frustrating. If that happens learn to use that to your advantage, they often do not see you coming.

I did a thing. After 15 years and I ❤️ it. Couple things I learned.
🏂I accepted my limiting beliefs and lost a LOT of time that could have been spent on something I loved. Don’t be so eager to accept your limitations - watch when they get in the way of joy.

🏂If I can do hard things, you can. My 74 year old aunt just hiked up the rickety steps of an old fort. She got on the phone and whipped my scaredy butt. She said ‘get out there NOW and get every experience you can. You are still so young’.

If it helps you to say to yourself if ‘she can, I can.’ Then use it. And go do whatever you’re wanting to.
🏂Backstory: An ocean baby Ionly saw snow at 13, While skiing I was fearful of being out of control while speeding downslope. Since I wasn’t as fast as the rest of the expert skiers in our family and friends group, comparisonitis set in, easier to let it go.

🏂This time, as I watched my kids have a blast, fall, get up and go again thought ‘ what am I waiting for? I’m going to do this. ‘
The only other people renting boards were cool 25 year old guys in their gear. Was it a little awkward? Maybe.
Did I fall? Yes. Was it all fun? yes!
Amazing what the body remembers even though it’s been years.
Finally, when you step up the universe finds a way to make it happen. Once I decided to get back on my board there was NO way the universe was letting me back down. I had an adorable group of random cheery supporters from this little ski town speak encouragement and positivity into me - from the people who rented my snowboard who were so pumped for me, to the sweet Canadian guy who kitted me with my wrist padding - he called his buddies to tell them how proud he was of me getting back on the board, to my husband and kids( mom if you more than 20 times you can ask to stop) to the coach, who coaches the Swiss team at times, and had all the grace to take on an almost newbie, let me take my time, stopping to high five and say ‘ love it, love it, you can do this’.

All I can say is please go do that thing for yourself. Who cares if you succeed or fail, all that matters is you had fun, got some new experiences in and built a world of your own design

Word. The confusion of ‘find your passion to find your purpose’ is real. And damaging.

Because we are evolving beings, our passions change, as they should. And who should say which passion to follow to find a purpose?

However, when you ask : ‘What can I give back?’ You will find the tools with which you can give of those passions.
You can create, you can build.
This is gifting your skills back via whatever you chose to do - write, teach, make art, spreadsheets, manage a team. These are things only you can do in your way, and something you can do even as you grow and find new passions. Don’t let confusion stop you from giving back.

Pinch me! Big Magic moment.
Somehow - very last minute - I got accepted into a creativity workshop I’d been dreaming and manifesting and generally DYING to go to.
When I applied
I was told : there’s a very VERY LOONG waitlist given who SHE is and no chance you’ll get in, but put your name down anyway.
And, then, I got a call last week saying they had a spot for me. Did I want it?
Trains, planes and 5 camels later I’m in a creativity workshop in the Berkshires(100 acres in the middle of nowhere with no transport available. Somebody is going to write an article about me on the highway with my backpack, story for another day) BUT I’m here!
For the workshop by my author -crush -magic voice lady Elizabeth Gilbert.

From and - yup, that one. Two days of her teaching and workshopping ideas.
I’ve been listening to her voice for so long, it’s been a treasure in moments of creative confusion. I can’t wait to meet the actual human behind it.

As a coach I see clients come to me with overwhelm, having reached the
“What should I do next???"
worry point.
There is shame, blame and anxiety at not moving forward, to name a few factors.
👉There’s also impostor syndrome and a fear of failure or success.
Sometimes, the road ahead in the life you want to create,
the career you are working towards seems SO far, tough and daunting.
🧡It's hard to make a plan, to see it all work out for you through the overwhelm.
🤗Been there, have lost myself in there too. Done that. Got the T-shirt.
At those times, this is what my advice to myself and my clients:

'🧘🏽Sit still. Counter to what you feel like doing.

And when you are very quiet ask yourself,
👉What is the ONE step forward I can take
👉TODAY
👉that is in MY ability to take
👉NOW
👉AS I AM?’

Even if it’s not perfect.

Especially if it’s not perfect.

👉Then take that ONE step forward with intention.
🧡Sometimes, that is all you need for a whole series of events to unfold.
Sometimes taking that step is exhausting and you might need to go take a nap right after.
Either and all are fine, as long as you take just that ONE step TODAY.
🧡Not a big power move or a slide or leap. Just one step forward.
