2020 was a year of challenges, and 2021 continues to operate with its share of difficulties. At Orbea, we’re working tirelessly to provide the best service to both our dealers and the cycling community.
Much like the rest of the industry, it is clear that our inventory availability is not what any of us desire. The issue at hand is a complex situation with many factors. First, increased logistics costs from our suppliers have, in some cases, grown to eight times the previous cost. Additionally, we are seeing an increase in origin charges, and when added to supply chain interruptions and depleted inventories, it has created an unsustainable environment.
Although Orbea has tried to mitigate and deflect these increases and uncertainties, the time has come when it’s no longer possible for us to do so. As a result, we are forced to increase our cost of goods to the public and adapt to this new economic climate.
We understand the implications this has on our dealers and our community members who have trusted Orbea, which is why this has been a difficult decision for us.
For this reason, we’ve created a new effort to help absorb part of this impact, and we will not apply the rate increase on bikes that dealers have already sold. If you’ve purchased a bike and are pending a receipt from an Orbea dealer, you will be excluded from the rate increase as long as you meet the requirements.
- We will not increase the price of bikes that dealers have already sold, even if a customer is waiting on their order to arrive.
- In order to comply with UK and EU GDPR regulations, the distributor must ask the consumer permission to include their email in the reservation in order to maintain the price. In a double authentication, the user will receive an email from Orbea to confirm the reservation.
- We will honor the price the customers paid, regardless of when the product is delivered.
We are taking unprecedented measures in the bike industry to maintain fair conditions for both our sales network and customers, and we sincerely thank you for your understanding.
