Dan has been mountain biking for the last 25 years and represented the UK in the 1990 Colorado World championships as a junior. He went on to own a London bike shop and write 'Mountain Biking – Everything you need to know about the world of mountain bikes' for Hayes. With an average 300 hundred days of sunshine a year there is always somewhere to ride in Provence.

Yesterdays short mountain bike ride turned into a bit of an adventure! The temptation to explore new trails even when the light is limited. Found a great new bit of single track in the bottom of this gorge which could have been a location from an Indiana Jones movie! Needless to say I got home in the dark, thankfully the moon was out!

Came across this cool structure on my Sunday cyclo cross adventure; called a Vigie its a fire control tower that looks across the edge of Vaucluse. The fact that its attached to the ground with steel cables gives you an idea of how windy it can get up here.

Mud is a rare commodity in Provence! However I do have a good spot where you can generally find some if there has been some rain or snow in this case. So far not the best mud tyre but they did shed well once back on the firmer ground. All round performance on hardback excellent and felt pretty fast too.Testing to continue...

New tyres! Excited to test these new WTB Nano cross tyres, measuring 40mm they have really chunky looking cornering k***s and look like they should be pretty fast too! Now for some riding ...

The first day of normal weather following the Mistral howling and some snow! Got do some single track riding, this little section is seriously steep and with some big loose rocks thrown in for good measure! All good fun!

Yesterdays ride! Nice to start on some dirt with a nice view of Ventoux in the background, finished in the dark after 85km, 1600 metres of climbing and getting chased by the fastest dog ever!

This picture my father took on the famous Koppenberg in 1977 Tour of Flanders. Nicknamed “The Gypsy” because he was born into a family of traveling clothiers. His skill as a cyclo-cross rider made him an expert on the cobbles of northern France and Belgium. De Vlaminck went on to win the race amongst some controversy 2nd and 3rd placed riders were both later disqualified. Wearing the now iconic Brooklyn kit I was a proud owner of one of their team caps as a kid.

Love getting out on my Focus cyclo cross bike! perfect for a day like today. Always feels faster than a mountain bike and is good for sharpening up your bike handling for the road. Only downer today was Maime Jannes Patisserie shop was shut by the time I got to Gordes !! next time...

Big change from the last few days of sun. Snowed about an hour ago and saw some boar running across the field in the snow unfortunately didn't get the camera out quick enough to get a photo of them
