Congratulations to EBCA Coach of the Year, Jonathon Cramman

Great Britain U23 head coach, Jonathon Cramman, has been appointed as bench/assistant hitting coach with the St. Lucie Mets

Jonathon begins his first year in the Mets organisation as St. Lucie’s bench coach/assistant hitting coach and joins the team from GB where he has held vital roles with Great Britain Baseball.

Jonathon has served as the manager for Great Britain Baseball U23s and guided the team to its first ever world cup appearance in 2024 and European championship in 2025. Cramman was the hitting coach for the 2023 World Baseball Classic Great Britain team and bench coach for the 2023 European championship silver medal team.

“Jonathon has played a major role in British baseball domestically and internationally and has led the U23s to two appearances in the WBSC World Cup,” said Richard Evans, President of the British Baseball Federation. “He deserves this appointment and we wish him well during his time with the St Lucie Mets.”

Sidney de Jong, the celebrated Dutch baseball figure and EBCA Coach of the Year in 2021, has died suddenly at the age of 46. De Jong was widely respected both as a player and coach, having represented the Netherlands at the highest levels of international baseball and later contributing significantly to the sport’s development across Europe. In 2021 he was honored with the European Baseball Coaches Association’s Coach of the Year award, recognizing his leadership, tactical insight, and commitment to nurturing talent across national and club programs. His sudden passing is a profound loss for the baseball community, which mourns not only a gifted coach but also a mentor and ambassador for the game.

We are thrilled to share that Jonathon Cramman has been named Coach of the Year at the EBCA Convention 2025 in Antwerp.

The award was presented on Saturday after an exciting voting process that brought together EBCA staff, EBCA members, and a general public poll. Jonathon’s dynamic leadership propelled the Great Britain U23 team to a historic European Championship gold, earning him well-deserved recognition on the international stage. It was an unforgettable moment to celebrate his achievement in person.
