Such an important initiative….

We’ll be shamelessly banging on about our Piste X Code launch ALL WEEK, because everyone who sets foot in the mountains this winter should revisit the rules of the piste. Honestly, doesn’t matter if you’ve been snowboarding or skiing for years, doesn’t matter how much safety kit you’re wearing, doesn’t matter if you only cruise green runs. We all need reminding. The campaign launches Friday, we’re backed by loads of local ski schools, funded by loads of local businesses and we’ve brought in the big guns for our launch video. Helpful updates from the lovely team at Morzine Source Magazine ….needless to say, we’re hoping that the current UK/France restrictions are indeed temporary 🤞

I’d imagined we’d be posting excited messages for those of you travelling to the mountains for your Christmas holidays today. It’s sunny, the snow is amazing, whole villages are ready to welcome you.

Instead everyone is desperately trying to deal with an avalanche of questions and enquiries. So hopefully this post will help you...

LIFT PASSES: A huge volume of passes were purchased in advance for the next three weeks. Obviously no one was expecting this last minute change to travel regs. Your entitlement to a refund will depend on which pass you purchased (you will have received and agreed to these terms at the time of purchase) and you’ll need to contact the lift company from which you made your purchase to enquire about a refund. Here are the links for each but be aware that they are completely overwhelmed by enquiries at the moment so patience is advised.

TIME SCALES: There’s currently no official guidance on when the immediate travel restrictions will be reviewed / removed but they’re widely thought to be temporary. Therefore, unless you’re travelling in the next two weeks, we’d suggest that you don’t cancel your holiday but stay alert for updates. That includes your accommodation, transfers, ski lessons, equipment hire, etc. Once the borders reopen there’ll be an all-time rush to book everything, hold tight and keep your holiday plans secured for the moment.

BE KIND: This morning we’ve seen threatening and abusive emails and messages sent to local businesses from travellers who’ve had to cancel their holidays. We get that you’re angry and frustrated but these new travel restrictions are not the fault of your accommodation provider. Please be kind and patient, everyone is dealing with an awful lot at the moment!

IN-RESORT TESTING: A few of you have been in touch following an article on Telegraph Ski and Snowboard concerning in-resort testing for teenagers and for those return to the UK tests at the end of your holidays. In the resorts featured, there’s no testing capacity at the weekends so I thought it might be handy to re-confirm the testing capacity of our resorts this winter (you’ll also find this on our website - link below).
MORZINE: Grande Pharmacie de Morzine is our mass testing centre, capable of undertaking 1500 anti-gen tests each day between 8.30am and 8pm every day of the season, including Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day. They also have the ability to double this capacity during peak departure times and with just two hours notice. Anti-gen testing appointments are available to book via the Doctolib website (visit our website for instructions) and walk-in testing is also available. Elsewhere in Morzine, the pharmacie du Bourg will perform 50 anti-gen tests each day between 8.30am and 7.30pm.
AVORIAZ: Between the Pharmacie des Portes du Soleil and the medical centre in the resort, 500 anti-gen tests are available each day. It’s not currently possible to book these in advance.
LES GETS: The pharmacie in Les Gets have yet to confirm their testing capacity but they’re open and testing every day during the winter season between 9am and 12noon and 4pm and 6.30pm.
ST JEAN D’AULPS: Available without an appointment, this pharmacie is really convenient if you’re staying further down the valley! It’s open 9am - 12.30pm and 2pm - 7.30pm. They’re closed Saturday afternoon and Sundays.
Our local pharmacists assure us that they’re ready for you this winter! So please don’t be alarmed by reports in the British press.

We are ready to welcome you back for the 2021/22 winter season here in Morzine! The snow has been falling heavily for the past couple of days meaning we'll have a great base for the opening weekend (in Avoriaz) next Friday.

To help our customers, we have made our reservations RISK FREE. You will not pay anything until you receive your equipment in resort and if you need to cut your rental short for any reason, we will only charge you for the days until you return the equipment to us.
