It is always a good reminder to see your dedication to your objectives as a volume button. You can choose the intensity!

Life is not always cleared of obstacles; sometimes we have to deal with several problems at hand. But that doesn't mean you have to pause your goal.

In terms of fitness, if you have been keeping up with your training three times a week for an hour but suddenly high pressure at work starts knocking at your door and at the same time your kids just got sick, it might be difficult to keep up with the rhythm.

So, instead of putting your goal on hold and starting from scratch, you can lower the intensity button and choose:

▪️ to train for 20/30 min each time you have an opportunity during the week
▪️ to do a mobility routine every morning
▪️ to work while standing / walking if possible
▪️ to take the stairs at work/home, etc.

Once the storm has passed, you can resume your routine.

The idea is to keep devoting yourself to your goal(s) but adjust the intensity along the way.

This is the hype: training on an unstable surface with a crazy load above your head 🏋️‍♀️ Is it worth it? Perhaps for social media visibility 🤳 More seriously, like everything, it depends on your goals and fitness level.

To be more specific, as a beginner, stick with the basic lifts and stable surfaces, aka the floor. You will get more results without the risk of injuring yourself 🤕 As a more advanced trainee, you can incorporate unstable surfaces to challenge your core more.

But ultimately, if your sole goal is to build strength and muscles, you might be better off mastering the basics first.

As mentioned below by the author, strength training improves running economy and running performance, therefore enhancing your running efficiency.

A meta analysis has been conducted on two different protocols:
1. Resistance training
2. Plyometrics
Which one is better for running?

Well has you probably guessed, both are important and both can help improve running 🦶🦵

☝️Now, that being said, if you are a beginner, I would encourage you to start with strength training as plyometrics require perfect form from the get-go, while ST is much easier to scale up or down to accommodate each individual.

Adding resistance training to your running program is a great idea not only to improve your performances but also your overall health!

I'd like to share a great study on Firefighters 🚒, showing how quality coaching during training session is important!

Firefighters are divided in 3 groups:
1️⃣ "On their own" training group (OTO)
2️⃣ Coaching training group
3️⃣ Control group (no training)

Both "OTO" and Coaching groups improve their fitness levels, as expected. However, the coaching group showed greater control of their movements outside the gym!
Learning to train your body so it can help you in YOUR life is very important.

Train with a purpose whether it is:
> Improving my quality of life (pick up your kids, walking upstairs/downstairs etc...)
> Getting strong for a performance event (crossfit, tennis, football, marathon etc...)
> Building muscles (aesthetic, events etc...)
> Losing weight
> Reducing the risk of injuries at work or in your life
> Improve your health

Good quality coaching will help you understand your goals and guide you through exercises that will help you achieve them!
