To my lovely UAE community… I’m not really sure what to say right now, and most likely I’ll be taking some time off here for the foreseeable, but before I do, there’s something I want to remind you all of…
This weekend shook us. There’s no other way to say it. What we experienced was frightening, and I just want to start by saying, it’s okay to be feeling whatever you are feeling right now. Knowing you are safe, and feeling safe are two different things, and it’s totally okay to need a little time for your body to catch up with that.
I think we’re all sitting in a strange kind of gratitude right now. Grateful that what felt (and was) so alarming was, ultimately, contained. Grateful for leadership that moved quickly. Grateful, honestly, just for each other.
I think for many of us the calm, the way this country quietly held us…reminded us all over again why we chose this place.
Dubai is incredibly resilient. It is quite extraordinary.
But so are you, my love.
We’ve watched this city come back from things that should have broken it. The lockdown. The floods. Each time, the dust settles and life returns… fuller, faster, more determined than before. That’s not luck. That’s the DNA of this place.
But it’s also the DNA of the people who chose to build their lives here.
If you’re here, you already know something about yourself. You were brave enough to leave something familiar. Bold enough to start again. Flexible enough to thrive somewhere that never stops evolving.
That part of you doesn’t disappear when things feel hard. That’s exactly the part that carries you through.
And as Winnie the Pooh so wonderfully said -please promise me you will always remember, you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
Hold steady, my loves. We’ve done hard things before. We’ll do this one too.
H xx🤍
