I have been working on the presentation for the past 2 weeks already and I had my first test run this morning to make sure everything will run smoothly on Saturday.

This aprox. 2.5-hour class will be a very personal share about my own journey away from dominance based beliefs towards a kinder, more empathetic way of being with horses.

It will give you plenty of very practical steps you can take right away to create trust, establish fair boundaries and better communication.

This Live Training will take place on Saturday, at 18:00 Vienna time - that’s 12 pm EDT - 9am PDT - 17:00 UK

Slowing down to horse speed

I love taking my horses on walks. It helps me to slow down to their speed of life. It helps me to slow my thoughts and to be fully present.

More than riding.

Our society and life is so fast paced. It feels like constantly being behind, all the things still left to do, to keep in mind. The mind is always busy and moving forward.

And we take this to our horses. We are mentally absent, not fully there. The thoughts drift, come back, drift off again.

Out there in the forest with my horse I have room to slow down to horse speed.
What does that mean? Horses live fully in the present moment.

As they see and notice things, they stop, look and take it all in. They process information right there and then. Not afterwards, not later, not all at once.
One at a time. And this is relaxing.

Here is a dialogue I had with Mayana yesterday on the walk:

Oh look - the cows! - Oh yes, you are right and there are even 2 baby cows out today.

Look, there are some rosehips. Would you like some? - sure, they are my favorites. Thank you for picking them for me.

Badum-badum-badum - the sun is so nice!

Ah wait, here is my favorite w**d! - Alright, have a few bites. I know you don’t have this at home.

Let’s continue - OK!

Do you wanna go left or right in the forest? - Let’s go right today.

Badum-badum-badum

I would like to check what's behind the woodpile. Do you come with me? - yes, why not!

Ah, nothing interesting really. Let's continue.

Look, some blackberries! Can I have some? - Yes, sure, let me pick some for you.

Ah, wait a sec. I heard something…………………… Mayana standing there like a statue, looking up the hill. Me just waiting. Hand resting on her shoulder.

Can you hear the silence?

Yeah, it’s nice. Ok, I am ready now to continue.

look Mayana, here are some leaves from your favorite bush - thank you for showing me! yumyum

These walks make me smile inside out. They give air to my soul and help slow down all my molecules and thoughts.

I think we should do that more often. Slow down to our horse’s speed.

What’s the rush? Why are we so impatient when a horse needs to stop and listen, or stop and look at something.

Just slow down to horse speed and enjoy.

New Monthly Lessons for ODH Members are Live!
This months topic: The Precision Circle - Find Focus, Flow and Relaxation

I love this visual pattern to:

- teach young horses about circling as it gives clear purpose through the visualisation
- get just started horses going with circle work and help them feel more balanced and fall less on the inside shoulder
- develop relaxed, flowing impulsion for the ridden horse
- develop rein independet steering and sensitize the horse to subtle weight and leg cues
- develop rhythmic canter and collectibility
- to start riding bridleless
-... and so much more.

The pictures are screenshots for the videos showing how my mare Mayana (the white) found this lovely relaxes trot with the help of the pattern.

Salimah (the bay) demonstrated this pattern at the canter to show how to develop rhythm and work direction collectibility of the canter.

There are also lessons just at the walk to tune your horse into your seat and progress to trot work on the path to riding bridleless!

What is RFT?
